It fits snugly, so it actually works for bore sighting
I've got a few 10mm and 9mm handguns, and I'm trying out different red dot sights and lasers and I really didn't like the "stuff it into the front of the barrel" bore sighting lasers. Large - OK for my home shop but not easy to take with. But they did deliver consistency. I tried a few similar in-chamber bore sight lasers like this one and NONE of them held consistent alignment. Test: once they're in, shake the gun and check - is the dot in the same place downfield? If you take them out and put them in again, same place downfield? This one passed the test. In three of my 9mm, putting the guns in a vise-based jig to assure consistency, the dot hit the same location downfield if I took the sighter out and put it back in; if I shook the gun like a can of spray paint. Wish they had a 10mm version. It works like it's supposed to, at a reasonable cost. Worth a buy.

Pretty good unit
I bought this to help sight in my 1974 Remington 700 BDL 30.06. With ammunition between $1.50- $4.00 dollars per round, I felt I could save money using this boresight even after seeing many reviews with only one star rated. An $18 range fee is the same as this boresight cost. I received the unit yesterday and immediately checked to see if the laser worked. It did. Be careful unpackaging because the batteries are very small even for a 30.06. I dropped one and had trouble locating it. The correct way to install the batteries is engraved on the side of the laser. There is paper in the battery chamber. I pulled the paper out but the laser wouldn’t turn on, so I left one battery in, put the paper in, then the other two batteries, and voila! Now I have a working laser. Remove one battery so the unit is off until you use it as it does not have an on and off switch. I printed out a bulls eye target out on 8 ½ x 11 paper. The diameter of the outer circle was nearly 7”. I measured out 100 yds exactly at my place and built a rest for my gun and looked through the chamber with the bolt out until I could see the paper through it, and waited for dusk. At dusk, I put the batteries together to turn on the laser, and then chambered it into the rifle. You have to wiggle it to get it in the chamber since it does not have a point like a live round would. Be gentle with it. After getting the laser into the chamber, I gently pushed the bolt forward until I could lock it down. Then I looked through my 3.5-10x power Nikon Monarch UCC 50mm scope and the laser was within view at 10x, and actually was on that paper! I adjusted my scope until the red dot was centered on the bulls eye. I was amazed that I could see the red dot at 100 yds and it covered only about 2” of that target. I was thrilled! I ejected the laser like a real bullet. Be careful to catch it. I put it back in and did another adjusting of my scope as it was off over 7” down and to the right. I repeated this procedure turning the laser about 45 degrees each time and adjusting. Finally, it seemed to be pretty true each time I turned it. As light became limited, I found out that the laser was illuminating the bullseye! I could not see the bullseye without the laser on! I am at this point now. I will do the same adjusting tomorrow night to see if I get the same results. Then I will venture to shoot a round to see if this matches up. That is the true test and I will post my final results.

Easy to use and accurate
Works great, had two rifles bore sighted in within 10 minutes and when I took them to the range, both guns were spot on. A few minor adjustments and was shooting cloverleafs.

May get stuck, no on/off switch
There’s no on/off switch, and if using for a pistol caliber carbine or rifle prepare for this to get stuck in the chamber without an easy way to push it out. It doesn’t feel super durable. Otherwise, it works as expected to sight your gun and was cheap so it gets 3 stars.

MidTen Bore Sight Cal Red Dot Boresighter for 223 5.56mm with 2 Sets of Batteries
This little devise worked like champ , I was able to sight my AR 223/5.56 with my 3X9 50mm scope in minutes, Then the big test shot at the 50m target 2 times both were in bulls eye inches apart, 75m same group alittle low still good for me, 100m alittle lower 1/2 or so still good grouping. GOOD TOOL!

What a great tool.
Works great…I watched a couple of Youtube videos to get tips on how to check accuracy and usage…calibrated my red dot sight in the comfort of my home for less than the cost of a box of ammo.
