I've always been a fruit and nut man. Middle of the road chocolate treats to satisfy my sweet tooth. And then I decided to go rogue and eat my way up the scale of dark chocolate to the hallowed ground of 90% proof. And here we are. The first bite was crisp and satisfying, with small shards of the chocolate breaking off at the side of my mouth, almost as if I was in the actual Lindt advert. The first chew of this dark slab of bitter wonderfulness completely sucked the moisture from my mouth, leaving it drier than the sole of a camel's foot*. The bitterness oozed down my throat in what I thought was an unpleasant experience at first, but turned in to a complete delight, with my body and mind instantly craving more of this noir prince of treats. Within 5 minutes the bar was demolished and my soul was complete. Thank you Lindt, I shall be buying again. *Note that this camel is walking through a desert, not a damp and muddy safari park in the West Midlands.

I really wanted to like this and if you are just looking for a great dark chocolate with excellent creamy texture and superior taste, then you can't go wrong with the brand. Why then the lower rating? Because I don't eat dark chocolate for the enjoyment, I eat it for the health benefits -- one small square a day. In order for dark chocolate to provide healthy benefits, it must have those flavonoids. Flavonoids provide antioxidant benefits. Eating a square of dark chocolate can aid in heart health and healthy skin, among other things. In order to ensure you are getting a product rich in flavonoids, it CANNOT be processed with ALKALI. Processing with alkali reduces flavonoid benefits. When I discovered this, I immediately went to check the ingredients list of my favourite chocolate bar. It states right on the back "cocoa powder processed with alkali". I wanted to cry because I really wanted this to be a good choice since I've been purchasing it for a while now precisely for that purpose. I won't be buying Lindt again. Instead, I found an alternative: Green & Black's organic dark chocolate, 85% cacao. It is NOT processed with alkali, so I know I'll be getting the benefits I wanted from my dark chocolate.

There's something deliciously naughty about this chocolate! I love it.

This chocolate recipe has no lecithin. Just cocoa butter, mass, sugar and vanilla. It's my base for thick hot chocolates, and now I buy it in larger quantities for enrobing. Warning: at 10% sugar, this is not very sweet. We have therefore used it as our 4-year-old's first introduction to chocolate. She seems to enjoy it in moderation :) Note: for a ganache I would recommend a sweeter chocolate, like 70% perhaps.

I love the 90lindt -it has good balance between sweetness, texture, and cacao mass.

Great product for those who like very dark chocolate. Decent price as well.
