Q: How do I specify how many yards I want? I'd like to order 3 yards as a continuous piece.

It's been many months since I ordered mine, but my impression at that time was it was only available in the 1 yard pieces. I could be wrong. ....noteworthy: things stick to this material like metal shavings to magnets!

Yes, the microsuede is really black. It being suede; when you brush your hand over it in one direction it will be black and when brush your hand in the other direction you'll get a lighter black due to the way light bounces off the material. Hope this helps.

Q: can this be used as the backing foundation for bead embroidery?

Have not done bead embroidery but the fabric is quite stable so probably. Hope this helps.
