At first I thought this was a joke. It’s not. It’s a real book, really from “Little Golden Books”, and it’s both well written and clever. There is zero gore or horror, but there definitely IS tension in the very simple narrative. The artwork is well done, and the wording is appropriate for preschoolers and young readers. It also turns out that there are other “Little Golden Books” that are science fiction-based, such as several in the Star Wars universe. I think this is a great way to get little ones involved in reading “not what the kindergarten classroom is limited to”.

I do not have children but I am an Alien fan, so I dramatically read this book outloud to my dog while she stared at me, wondering what I was laughing and snorting at. Recommended for all Alien lovers.

Ah yes, nothing says “bedtime story” like introducing your child to the wonderful world of acid-spitting aliens and existential dread, but hey, education starts young, right? From “A is for Alien” to “X is for Xenomorph,” this book had my little one enthralled—and slightly concerned about what’s hiding under the bed. The illustrations are beautifully done, and the cute, kid-friendly depiction of Ripley holding Jonesy is a lovely touch. The “friendly” alien lurking in the background will surely make junior think twice about life on other planets. It’s a bold move by Little Golden Books, but honestly, who needs “A is for Apple” when “A is for Alien” gives you so much more excitement (and potential therapy sessions down the road)? Bottom line: It’s fun, it’s educational, and if you’re like me, you’ll have a blast explaining why Mommy screams whenever a facehugger appears. Five stars!

Such a fun little book, I bought it as a gift for my mother but she already received it from someone else! It now lives on my bookshelf and is a fun little book to go back to from time to time.
