Product Description What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to turn off the last robot? This is the premise behind Wall-E, the latest comedy adventure from the inventive storytellers and technical geniuses at Pixar Animation Studios (The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille). The story, told by Academy Award®-winning writer-director Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo), concerns a determined robot named WALL-E, left behind to clean up the planet after the last humans have left. After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) has developed his very own personality. He discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he encounters--and becomes enamoured with--a sleek search robot named EVE. WALL-E and EVE travel across the galaxy and set into motion one of the most exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big screen. Joining WALL-E on his fantastic journey across a universe of never-before-imagined visions of the future is a hilarious cast of characters, including a pet cockroach and a heroic team of malfunctioning misfit robots. Filled with surprises, action, humour and heart, WALL-E also features original and innovative sound design by Academy Award®-winner Ben Burtt, the man responsible for the voice of R2D2 in Star Wars (as well as work on E.T. and Indiana Jones). desertcart.co.uk Review Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot--with a big, big heart--who holds the future of Earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He's outlasted all the "Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class" robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he's developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with his collection of human memorabilia. EVE's directive compels her to bring Wall-E's newly collected plant sprout to the captain of the Axiom and Wall-E follows in hot pursuit. Suddenly, the human world is turned upside down and the Captain (Jeff Garlin) joins forces with Wall-E and a cast of other misfit robots to lead the now lethargic people back home to earth. Wall-E is a great family film with the most impressive aspect being the depth of emotion conveyed by a simple robot--a machine typically considered devoid of emotion, but made so absolutely touching by the magic of Pixar animation. Also well-worth admiring are the sweeping views from space, the creative yet disturbing vision of what strange luxuries a future space vacation might offer, and the innovative use of trash in a future cityscape. Underneath the slapstick comedy and touching love story is a poignant message about the folly of human greed and its potential effects on earth and the entire human race. --Tami Horiuchi, desertcart.com Review: Superlative Blu-ray For A Modern Masterpiece - Love, loneliness, hope, loss and rediscovery are just some of the themes explored in WALL E, another surefire hit from the team at Pixar. Probably my favourite Pixar film, it never fails to make me smile. Primarily aimed at kids but with more than enough smarts and humour to charm adults this is THE perfect family film for our modern times. WALL E is a happy little load lifting waste compactor robot living on a now adandoned and polluted Earth who unwittingly becomes the catalyst for a rebirth of humanity. Finding friendship and maybe even love along the way WALL E will touch your heart and make you laugh at his madcap adventure on Earth and then in space. Beautifully written, animated and directed this is undoubtedly a modern masterpiece of film making and a future classic. Pixar are never mean with their selection of extras but this Blu-ray sets a new standard for me. 2 commentary tracks which are both well worth your time. One has us one on one with the director Andrew Stanton which is a joy to listen to, providing an in depth disection of everything relating to the making of the film. The other commentary track is a Blu-ray exclusive and is labelled as a 'geek track/trash talk' with 4 of the peeps from Pixar and its great stuff too. Very geeky, quite funny and another great listen this is also a worthy inclusion and something Id like to see more of. Theres a fairly short making of WALL E featurette but its still interesting to watch. We get BURN E and PRESTO, (2 animated shorts) BnL animated shorts, interactive videogames, (yes, really!!!) a tour of the ship from the film, deleted scenes plus more. But the extra which is probably worth the disc price alone is the feature length documentary 'The Pixar Story' which is just a very special document of the story of the wonderful people at Pixar, including John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and the sadly recently deceased Steve Jobs. A true fairytale documented almost as it happened. Wonderful. The picture and audio quality is stunning, as ever with Pixar, so if you're wondering at all this is pretty much the perfect Blu-ray release. Magnificent Pixar!!! Review: Brilliant story-telling - Amazing Blu-Ray - WALL-E is stunning film by any standards. To label it an animation or a kids film is to miss the time and effort Pixar put into their films. The nominating of Up as best film may have been a token gesture to animation in the recent Oscars, but at least does acknowledge that these people are filmmakers, pure and simple. The fact that their chosen medium for storytelling is animation should have no more bearing than the choice to write a novel over a screenplay. WALL-E is superbly crafted, with our eponymous hero acting like a robotic Charlie Chaplin, bumbling his way in a sweetly heroic way, almost oblivious to the chaos he is causing. That he is the most 'human' character in the film is by no means a mistake. His selfish actions, curiosity and kind heart affect both the robots and humans he comes into contact with, enriching their meaningless lives beyond imagining. Yes the story may have a heavy environmental message, but at it's heart it is a story about being true to yourself and not missing the small moments in life. Is the story aimed at children? Well, no, it isn't, it's aimed at everyone, Pixar have certainly made more child friendly films, such as Finding Nemo or A Bug's Life, but this film feels richer, more rewarding than a film simply aimed at children. It challenges viewers with short attention spans, with no real dialogue for over half an hour and main characters who barely speak. It then betrays those who have been seduced by the simple pleasures of the first half, to turn into a more action oriented comedy affair. But if you are willing to follow the ride with WALL-E the transition is logical and well handled. Both halves are filled with truly beautiful moments, from the startling waste-land of Earth, to the mesmerising journey through space and the space 'dance' between WALL-E and EVE. As for the Blu-Ray, it is clear that Disney set the gold standard for Blu-Ray. The picture and sound are nothing short of breathtaking. The transfer is flawless with exquisite detail packed into every image. The sound is superb, from the loudest bangs to the subtlest whistles. To me, one of Pixar's greats and that's saying a lot from a studio that produces a great nearly every time they release a film.

Who would've ever believed that a pair of robots, both with two word vocabularies, could star in one of the BEST animated love stories EVER!

My son loves this movie, so what a better idea to purchase it for my little man. As soon as it was delivered (fast delivery) he opened it with excitement. We put it in the blue Ray player and it says that it’s not able to play. That the blue Ray is from a different country. So being that it won’t play I give it 1 star. A waste of money.
