Works but pricey
No question, this works, and it's a sleek and reassuringly solid design - but, whilst not the most expensive 1 in 1 USBC reader on Amazon, it's also certainly not the cheapest at £18.99 (price at time of review) - I've reviewed another which worked perfectly at £12.79 (time of review), went up to £16.99, and is now on offer at £9.98. There are quite a few others there for around that £10 mark, too. Then again, I do like the LEDs which confirm connection and also the USBA to USBC adapter, which stays attached to the cable so you won't lose it. You can pay £4 - £5 just for the adapter on its own, so that pulls the value for money back into a better range. So, a perfectly good hub with some nice extra features; I'm happy with it, but you can save a little if you shop around.

Not as fast as it should be and inconsistent across the slots
This card reader feels nicely made, it’s quite solid with a metal case and fairly heavy. It supports hot swap on PC but not on Android. I could only get the OTG to work on the Port 1 with a micro SD. On a PC, the hot swap worked on all ports. Using USB device viewer this reader shows up as a Generic- xD-Picture USB Device with 5 drives mapped automatically (on Windows PC). The USB version reads 3.2 which means it should be quick. I tested this with a micro SD card and, for comparison, I tested the same card in a Lexar device connected to the same USB port. The results should be more or less the same, but this reader was slower for both read and write. The results were also inconsistent across the different slots. There are two TF/microSD slots on this device, running the same test got these results - PORT 1 -- TF microSD READ: 32.18 MB/Sec WRITE: 49.67 MB/Sec PORT II -- TF microSD READ: 38.41 MB/Sec WRITE: 66.23 MB/Sec But in comparison the Lexar WRITE: 43.63 MB/Sec READ: 81.08 MB/Sec The same test on the SD slots also showed port II was quicker than port I. It made no difference when the device was connected to either a USB A or USB C port, it was always the same speed. I don't really understand why the speeds vary so much, I would expect the same card to run at the same speed on any slot.

It allowed us to get the data off of the card that crashed in my sons camera. I was able to use Linux tools to get most of the pictures off, even some he didn't realize were on there.
