Fantastic Portable Music System !!!! KLIM all the way....!!
I'm so glad i made this purchase. After much research and trial and failure i've finally found a solution i can truly claim is exactly what i was looking for. Since this will be my work music-system i needed something clear and capable of delivering music via a variety of media. I won't quite say this is an iPod-killer but it comes close. the USB-drive input is so cool if you don't need to see track-titles or have complete control over how your playlists are sequenced (the random-mode is helpful) USB-drives are cheap so you can have multiple Flash-drives containing a variety of music(s) of your choice (the only limitation being no disks over 64 GB...my unit really seems to like Sandisk). i had no issues whatsoever with CDs skipping....i wish the FM and Am knobs weren't stepped but the increments are tight and i get my favorite FM station clearly. The Volume- knob has 30 steps so you have a very nice range of volume to work with. ...almost twice as much as your mac computer. The audio-input is there if you want to plug in a phone or i-Pod without bluetooth. The unit provides 4 EQ settings plus the default. i've found the Jazz setting to be my favorite...providing a nice clarity across the spectrum for all music. ..it's actually a brilliant little Eq-curve given the speakers.....which is the bottom-line. i won't say this is a 'blaster' or 'boombox' of the sort i'm used to but it packs a better punch with clarity than my 2 old favorite companies' current products in the same price-range. i'm just blown away by this unit as well as the super-folks at KLIM who were immediately responsive when i had an issue with my original unit and immediately sent a replacement the next day. the REMOTE-CONTROL is VERY effective....since some of the work i do means being on ladders several feet away, a reliable remote is essential if i'm playing playlists with jumps in volume or need to skip a track. (in the first photo you can see my little KLIM approximately 15 ft away. i am on this side of the yellow ladder and was still able to to easily get the unit to respond to my remote commands (which i keep wrapped in the original plastic to protect from paint and water). i also think it's important to note that this doesn't sound like a BOSE with truly heft bass....i often work in small bathrooms when people are home so even at low volumes i don't want that much bass....just enough to have things pop and provide some definition. this is a dream unit in that regard.....so whether i'm listening to electronic music or Gordon Lightfoot....the sound is just so very nice... the question becomes how long will it hold up to the abuse i will subject it to?....i'm confident it will hold up just fine...it's build is solid. the package itself is excellent and KLIM throws in cool bumper-stickers.... i don't go around saying how much i love a company but i really love this one. my search is over.....KLIM is my new choice....of course i'd be very excited were they to release a B6-Model.

Good sound quality from a rugged little system
Sturdy and reliable, easy (sot of) to use, and excellent for bringing music to site. I use mine when I'm splitting wood. One CD (usually something like The Traveling Wilburys because you need distraction) is the limit for splitting, and then a repeat for stacking. Loud enough to keep me amused, but not too loud to bother the neighbors (too much). Good battery life, can take a little light rainy or snowy weather.

Great except for one thing
Purchased this Klim B4 boombox as a portable adjunct to my larger home units based on the excellent reviews and the product description. For the most part it is an excellent product except for one detail which I will get out of the way now - occasionally the CD skips during tracks even on clean undamaged discs. I contacted Klim (which includes a 5 year warranty - good move!) and they promptly sent me a replacement at their expense. However there is some skipping on the new unit albeit not as much so I will live with this. The CD player by the way is top loading which I find better than the tray or slot-in players that have flooded the market. That said the sound is fine and the front digital display shows both the track number and the timing of said track. However I am pleased to report that the B4's other features are outstanding. Let's star with the remote. When i saw this little remote I seriously wondered whether it was truly a full function remote. I can happily say that it is. It controls all functions and lets you seamlessly go from one to another in a flash. You can also use the numerical keys to select radio stations and the B4 will automatically remember the last one you had on. Both AM and FM reception is flawless - the antenna though must be pulled up first before you can rotate it - be careful here. The Bluetooth function works just fine with quick and easy connection and sounds fine. The downside is that there are not track numbers displayed - you must refer to your phone or tablet for this. The unit has duplicate controls on top of it on the right and left. I personally find the remote easier to use though. I have not yet tried the USB so cannot comment- the port is on the right side of the unit. The B4 is solidly built of very hard plastic and has a large carry handle making it easy to transport. One huge plus with this product is the built-in rechargeable battery. You do not have to remove it - just plug it in to recharge and it is ready to go. I wish other portable boomboxes had this feature. Soundwise the unit is fine for its size - you won't raise the roof but the volume is more than adequate for a medium sized room and there is a sound adjuster for various modes of music which help a bit but don't make a huge difference. There is no cassette player but for me not a deal breaker. So I would rate the Klim B4 a safe economical bet for a portable music unit. Hopefully the CD won't be an issue - if not then much enjoyment should be had from this unit. And the 5 year warranty is a plus.

S picking
I wanted to like this product and gave it a chance and then decided to return it rather than risk keeping it and dealing with some presenting problem on long term. I purchased this primarily to play a collection of old time radio CD-R type disc. It did not play the old time radio disc that were recorded on DVD-R which is understandable since the product description states CD-R and not DVD-R and a internet educational search says material recorded on DVD-R will not play on a CD player that plays CD-R. Moving on I inserted some CD-R disc of old time radio and it played them mostly well enough BUT on some it would freeze and the player would not respond when other buttons were pressed and I would then turn it completely off and then it would go back to normal and play. This was of concern and one of the major reasons for the rerturn as I mentally started to forecast having to deal with this unpredictability of playback in the near future after the 30-day Amazon return policy expiration. There were also some features of the product which I also did not like and contributed to the return. I would have dealt with them but those issues, coupled with the aforementioned playback issue added to my irritation with the product. One of these issues was the lighted display window. The window display is extremely bright and can light up a whole room. When the product was facing me if I closed my eyes the light was so strong and bright that I could still see the brightness with my eye lids closed. If I turned the player around so that it was not facing my face it would cast its bright beam onto the opposite room and make the room bright blue. I checked the player manual and although it flaunted the brightness of the window display it did not give any instructions of how one could either turn off the display window or at minimum reduced the unusual and outstanding glare; yet another irritant is that the product description mentions that its power source is lithium battery and an electrical cord. Perhaps I was a bit ignorant when I thought that this meant that I would have the option of using either battery or electrical cord but upon discovery of the product it turns out that there is no such option in the power source. It operates solely on lithium battery and the electrical cord is ONLY to power up the lithium battery. If this had been mentioned clearly I would not have purchased as I am weary and cautious on having any products that operate on lithium batteries due to the mass media reported fire incidents involving lithium batteries. As if to acknowledge that the manual is filled with cautions on the fire hazards of lithium batteries. Again because of the notoriety of the lithium battery I feel that this is significant enough for mention of this to have been made in the product description. The manual also says that the lithium battery can not be removed so there is no alternative. Once I decided to return the product as if on queue Amazon informed that although they say in the item description "free returns" that so-called 'free return' would not include UPS picking up the item at my home and that I would have to pay (to Amazon) 7-odd dollars for UPS to pick up the item at my home. So I opted to accept the amazon free return label and took the item to a UPS direct - this meant of course that I had to lug a somewhat large and slightly heavy box across town as there were no acceptable UPD access points in my immediate area - and coupled with that internet research is cautious on UPS Access point services as some do not scan the item and do not give receipts so that although I will assume that some do the fact that some do not would mean me having to either make multiple phone calls or lug the item around in speculation so I thought it would simply be easier to just lug it to a real and proper UPS store. But i made it a day and had a nice breakfast in the outing and since then Amazon has received the item back through UPS and I have my refund. If you do not mind a player that can be temperamental in playing or not playing a disc and freezing unexpectedly and you do not mind an ultra beam lighted display that can light up a whole room and you are ok with lithium battery and are not put off by misleading product description then on the plus side when the product did play a disc unterruptedly if did play beautifully. However those singular events were not enough for me. So it gets one star for not playing a disc consistently and freezing and for the ultra bright display window light that can not be turned off or dimmed and the electrical cord not being described as only to charge the lithium battery and that you can not play with the electrical cord alone and for Amazon not providing for UPS at home pick up without a charge. Therefore, caution to the buyer

Disappointing Sound Quality
Nearly everything overt about this self-contained unit is great: easy directions & setup, lightweight, versatile (recharges while plugged in, many input and play options). For a lifelong devotee of assorted music genres, however, sound fidelity experience is poor. In classical music, the orchestra is mushy with instruments seeming indistinguishable from one another. On recent recordings of other music types like country, rock, boogie, folk, etc., the sound lacks depth, clarity, range, clear base, and resonance. If you want a boom box for the beach, this seems easy, well-made & affordable. If you are a true audiophile seeking portable playback of your favorites, better keep looking. (So far I haven't found it.)

Very nice for the $
I needed to replace my ancient Sony boombox for outside use. I was specifically looking for a FM/CD dual power unit (batteries or cord) under $100. After some research online, I decided on this unit. So far I am pleased with the performance and the feature set. Two features that set it apart apart from other units in this price range, are the dual power feature with a built-in rechargeable battery that charges during corded use, and preset 'EQ' functions to tailor the output sound. In addition, it has the now standard Bluetooth, AUX, USB, sleep timer, remote, and so on. I think this would be great for a small room, garage, office etc as well. My only very minor quibble is no clip to retain the antenna in its collapsed position for transport. You can collapse the antenna fully back into the body, but long term pulling the antenna in and out won't help its longevity. I had some questions and contacted KLIM Customer Service and they responded immeadiately and followed up, which is a nice plus for this unit also.
