Does this pitcher lid seal to be air tight?

No, it isn't supposed to seal airtight. The lid is made with vents in the spout area, which is used to pour through. I love it for making iced tea. Despite how careful I've been, I inevitably crack one of my good glass pitchers when brewing the tea. I highly recommend it.
