I bought this thermometer in March 2024. It has great features, and I really liked it. Now fast forward to near the end of 2025. I wasn't feeling good & wanted to know if I had a fever, so of course I pulled out this one. This is an infrequently used item because I am the only one in the household, so I always remove the batteries before storing it. I put them back in, and checked my temperature using the forehead method. I knew that it was way off because I would have been dead!. I checked it several times this way, and while I didn't get the exact same reading, it was close. Then I tried it several times by the ear method. The reading was much more realistic, but was it correct? I pulled out my old fashioned glass thermometer, stuck it in my mouth, and waited 3 minutes. I had a perfectly normal reading. When I compared it to the memory of this thermometer, it was clear that both methods on the digital thermometer were off, some were way off. When I first received the iProven thermometer and tested it on both myself, and another person, the readings were accurate using both methods. It occurred to me that maybe the batteries were to blame, so I used an OHM meter to measure the voltage of the ones that I had stored with the thermometer. They were still 1.5 volts. Still, to be absolutely sure of my findings, I took 2 brand new batteries, measured them (they were both over 1.5 volts), and put them in the thermometer. A recheck of the results using both methods resulted in the same ridiculous readings. It wasn't the batteries. I can only conclude that this product is a piece of junk. If you can't be confident about the readings, what good is it? Now I don't even have an expensive paper weight because it isn't heavy enough to be much good. You have been warned!

I have to voice my displeasure and how I am really questioning the reliability and accuracy of the iProven Premium Dual Mode Thermometer. I had originally purchased the unit from Amazon on November 21, 2023. Within a week or two of receiving the thermometer I tested it and was not getting what I felt were accurate readings, especially when I compared those readings with a couple of different oral thermometers, and there was a notable difference. At that time I called the customer service phone number for iProven and the person agreed to send me a replacement and stated that I could dispose of the other thermometer however I wished. I received the replacement thermometer on 12-23-2023. Unfortunately, I did not have an opportunity to test it at that time, but was hopeful that the replacement would be more reliable and accurate. However, as of this week my dad has had a bad cold and last night (6-20-24) I wanted to try to take his temperature with the iProven Premium Dual Mode Thermometer. I was really disappointed and initially it really worried me, because the readings from the ear(s) were showing that his temperature was over 103 degrees F. I really thought I would have to call 911, but my 80 year old dad is sitting there looking at me like that can't be right, because he says he feels better than he did the night before. So, I take a couple of readings from his forehead and they are 99.3 or 99.1. Please note that the forehead readings were taken within 1/16 of an inch from his forehead, so as to reduce any "outside interference" so to speak, since ambient room temperature can affect a reading from the skin. That is a BIG difference between 103 plus to 99 plus....4 degrees difference!! Although, then I get out the oral thermometer and double check his temperature and the oral thermometer says 101.6 degrees F. Still not the greatest, but at least it's not 103.5 like one reading for the ear was....almost 2 degrees difference! I gave him Tylenol and have been staying on top of other meds to help with the cold and congestion, and thankfully today he is doing much better. But the point is, that this iProven Premium Dual Mode Thermometer does not give me the confidence that this is a reliable unit that can provide accurate readings. Also, since this is the second unit I've received, I don't believe that sending me a third unit is going to instill any more confidence in me for this product.

Update: Customer service gets 5+ stars! I'm quite impressed with customer service, so you can buy this product with confidence that you'll get good support. Customer service replaced the thermometer a couple times for me. I still experience some variation with the readings, but nothing severe, and it's definitely better than the first thermometer. I definitely recommend the trick of pulling up the ear with the opposite hand (It's in the instruction manual). Original review: When I first opened this product, my initial thought was that this thermometer looks and feels like quality. Even the user manual is quality. The user manual is very nice--it's in color, the paper is thick, and it's written well by someone who actually speaks and understands English. The thermometer gives quick readings, and it's easy to read. The piece that converts the thermometer from forehead to ear is easy to take off and put back on. I haven't tried the forehead thermometer just pointing at the forehead, but it works nicely touching. However, I tend not to trust forehead thermometers because we had a forehead thermometer in the past that had TERRIBLE accuracy. This one seems way better, though. I bought this solely for the ear thermometer function because a doctor told me to buy an ear thermometer. However, I'm having some trouble using the ear thermometer. I'm not getting consistent readings. I guess I just can't find the "sweet spot" to point the thermometer to take the reading. Our old ear thermometer stopped working, so I bought this to replace it, and our old ear thermometer worked better than this one. I think the nozzle of this ear thermometer may be a bit shorter and the tip isn't quite as narrow. It feels a bit different inside the ear from our old thermometer. I can take 3 back-to-back readings in the same ear and get different results. I even tried the tip in the instruction manual that said to lift the top of the ear. I just don't know how to accurately place this to get an accurate reading (or it's the thermometer itself). I have to take readings every day for medical purposes, and I need accuracy, so for that reason alone I'll be returning this. Maybe others have better luck than I do. But other than using it as an ear thermometer, it's nice.

Oggetto inutile quanto dannoso: siamo finiti al pronto soccorso dopo aver effettuato una dozzina di letture a 40 gradi nelle orecchie (entrambe) per poi scoprire con termometro al mercurio che la temperatura reale era di 37.8, confermata al pronto soccorso. In ospedale mi hanno detto di NON comprare questi termometri ottici per misurazioni su fronte o orecchie. Le letture che forniscono NON sono per nulla attendibili. NON COMPRATE questi articoli
