True Gangsta Rap
The term gangsta rap is overused. So is the description "gangsta rapper." However, Havoc and Prodigy are solely gangsta rappers. And every track on The Infamous is straight gangsta rap. Most people will consider this one of the greatest rap albums ever, regardless of rap genre. Many, including me, believe this is the greatest gangsta rap album ever. Every track on this album has incredible production. The beats for Hectic, The Start of Your Ending, Shook Ones, Survival of the Fittest, Eye for an Eye, and Party Over are as dark and gritty as beats come. Tracks like Temperature's Risin, Up North Trip and Cradle 2 the Grave tell clever hood stories. The guest appearances on this album are few but fantastic. Raekwon and Nas both drop great verses on Eye for an Eye, and Noyd's verse on Give Up The Goods is one of the best on the album. QTip produces Drink Away the Pain and drops a nice verse as well. No track on this album needs to be skipped, although there are a few preludes and freestyles. This album is almost 10 years old and the replay value in 2004 has never been higher.
