I'm using my Lumix g85 as a webcam. This item is used to provide power to the camera without the need for a battery. You just plug the dummy battery into your camera, and he other end in to the wall and you are good to go for power. All you need is to connect your camera to your computer and then you will have something way better than almost any webcam you can buy. This adapter works exactly as described in the product description and has worked flawlessly for me.

The power supply and dummy battery module appear to be well made and function as expected. The DC cable has a quick disconnect that allows you to quickly swap cameras on your tripod without removing the dummy battery from the first camera in order to get free from the power supply brick. I found this to be a handy feature.

The open circuit voltage is > 9v. The Panasonic battery pack is Li-Ion 2S ie two cells in series which has a max voltage of 8.4v (4.2v x 2). Although the label on the power supply says 8.4v the open circuit voltage at the battery terminals read 9.02v. So obviously this is an unregulated power supply and the voltage might drop with the load. But I don't want to take a chance with my camera with it and will be using my own power supply. The coupler has the necessary signaling to masquerade as real battery and my Lumix ZS100 doesn't complain about it. So I am keeping this for the coupler.

I got this to do video work with my Lumix. It works perfectly. The power cord is long enough to use the camera on a tripod without needing an extension cord.
