Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary On The Whole Bible (Nelson's Super Value Series)

Have been using this as part of my Bible studies. The commentaries have helped me to understand the Bible much more clearly and with clarity. The commentary is easy to understand and written in such a manner that the commentaries are helping me in my studies. Am excited to have this as part of my materials for resources and answers to questions.

I value this book not only because of it's content, but also because of its size and the style in which it is written. The size does not overwhelm me like other aids I've bought. It's easy to hold and I can quickly find the reference for which I'm looking. Henry's book - at least the one I purchased - is very user friendly. The style is straight forward and easy to understand. I'm a very literal thinker so the way this book is written does not cause me to go "tilt" trying to figure out what he is conveying. Just as the cover states - it is easy to read, it is outlined chapter by chapter -- all in one book. I believe it would be good for beginning student's of the Bible as well as for seasoned teachers and seasoned people who enjoy studying the Bible. Definitely a great resource tool. I also think it would be a good help for non-believers who study the Bible, for students researching for reports, etc. It appears to give very straight explanations that would not cause controversy for any reader, student, researcher. Supplements included in the Matthew Henry Commentary include:Fulfilled prophecies of the Messiah, harmony of the gospels, the Jewish calendar, maps and other documentations to help one understand the timeline in the Bible. Time truly gets away from me when I wander through the verses, the maps, timelines, etc. imagining what it was like "back then" but it also makes me so grateful for the "now" of time for us.

I love it! It really gives you a deeper understanding of God's Word and it is very interesting and it makes you understand and really feel for God's people. It brings you closer to and loving God so much deeper

I have a vision problem and this is nice large print pages are thin but not tissue (maybe 2 tissues thin) thin ,so you may get the bleed through from highlighting which I love doing (but can't because of bleeding through so I underline them... What I find helpful is, it starts with an introduction to each book and an outline to each chapter in that book. what I don't like is it's not verse by verse the chapters can be 2 to 14 verses or more together. There is no color maps just black and white with an index for the maps which helped me to get a better picture in my head but with the black and white and grey some of the words I couldn't see (I need color to see all the words, part of my vision issue). It also have in the back Prophecies of the Messiah fulfilled in Jesus Christ. and the Harmony of the Gospels. If this is still not large enough and for some it may not be you will save yourself alot of frustration and use a kindle which I have to use at times but I like holding my books and highlighting in them and taking notes which you can do in the kindle on amazon, the color is septa which my eyes don't get so tired from lots of reading, I have the free download kindle but this book is a good resource and reading is easy to read print.

02-Jun-2025 Book has good binding and hardcover. Be aware that this is an abridged version of the full commentaries but has good commentaries for reference and historical background. I'm not sure why they have Pyramids on the cover, these are not mentioned anywhere in the old or new Testaments. This is a good deal if you don't want the full 5 volume set.

Wish I could give more stars! It is very clear & easy to read / understand, giving a deep & helpful insight into the Bible. Plus, despite Henry having written it 300 years ago, it is as up-to-date as necessary for today's world. I have read that it is the most popular Commentary
