Bought this as a replacement. Still great.
Needed to replace my blue AAA Maglite. It wasn't performing well, sometimes the tail cap connection was loose and that flashlight was a victim of Alkaline leakage. It corroded the inside and you can even see the paint was dissolved. Anyway, i wanted to make sure i still had an AAA version of the Maglite in case all my rechargeable batteries were dead or in use. I have the AA version as well which only will work with Energizer rechargeables, the Duracells are a bit too big (it might be because it's a specially designed Maglite), i haven't tried the Duracells in these AAA flashlights as of yet, but i don't have the AAA Duracell rechargeables as of yet. The other reason i needed to replace my AAA flashlight is because the plastic front is cracked in the middle. It's a fairly large crack as well but apparently it doesn't seem to affect the light much. There is a noticeable difference but doesn't inhibit the light's efficiency much. Funny thing is after i bought this flashlight i actually fixed the tail cap bottom so the light works without much fussing around. So it's just nice to have an extra AAA flashlight laying around in case of an emergency such as i ran out of bulbs. Don't seem to have that problem now. One thing that i didn't notice when buying this was there is an LED version of this flashlight and that would have been a better buy but this current one was on sale so i couldn't pass that up. There is most likely a kit where you can convert this flashlight to LED so it's not a huge deal right now. I also plan on converting my AA flashlight to LED so it'll be a bit easier on the Energizer batteries when in use. Overall, for a tiny flashlight this provides plenty of light. Also avoid keeping the alkaline batteries stored in the flashlight, either use the packaging or however you store extra batteries. I use rechargeable anyway so there really isn't a need for the alkalines unless it's an emergency, where i don't have any charged batteries, it's nice to keep the alkalines on hand just in case. I however prefer to have extra D sized Alkalines for my 2D Maglite. That flashlight is far brighter and has longer battery life. For these smaller versions, the AA and AAA rechargeables will be the best as you can recharge them 100's even 1,000's of times before replacing those. Get the LSD batteries and you can store those batteries in the flashlight in an emergency!

Incredible flashlights. Great for everyone. And a must have in a photographer's camera bag.
I have a few silly passions and the maglite line of flashlights is one of them. Though I like them all, the mini maglite is my all time favorite and in my possession right now are probably five of them in assorted colors. Brilliant feats of engineering design don't come along all that often but this light would be one of them..... This functions as a standard flashlight that can cast a wider or narrower beam depending on how you turn the front piece, and the beam is a bright soft light. In a blackout, you can fully unscrew the front piece and invert it on the bottom of the flashlight thereby creating a hands free stand and the flashlight functions a bit like a candle (without the risk of catching surroundings on fire). The back end of the flashlight stores a spare bulb (such a smart touch). Long before there was an amazon or amazon reviews, I was waxing poetic about these flashlights and they are as well made today as they were then. Solid aluminum construction and good rubber seals all around. For a photographer I think this is a must have item. I keep one in my camera bag at all times. If I am hunting around in the dark they help me find my way. If I want to shoot a "painting with light" image they are often my go to light both because they are bright enough and soft enough to help create a pleasing night image with just a hint of light. With proper care these flashlights will last years. Replacement bulbs are readily available. The thing that causes me to ultimately toss one of these away is when the glass cover over the bulb gets too hazy from wear to be useful. But this takes a long long long time. BOTTOM LINE: I can't sing the praises of these maglites highly enough. Great for everyone, but photographers should always have one on hand.

Sturdy, Steady Flashlight
Bright and sturdy, small-size flashlight. Not too tiny that it gets easily lost, but small enough to fit unobtrusively in a drawer, glove box or emergency kit. Runs on standard batteries, which are included, so easy to always have ready when needed, unlike rechargeables that always seem to be dead when you need them most. Holds up well to klutzy kids (or adults) and, while metal, not so heavy that if drop one on your toe you'll be heading to the ER. Bright, useable glow, strong enough for walking on a dark path, fixing a leak under the sink, or reading during a power outage, all in a pocket-size package.

Way brighter that the 1aaa model but still compact!
It is a Maglite for sure so there is no switch to turn it on (never understood that and it's the reason a lot of people don't like to use them), but I'm addicted to incandescent flashlights so i use these! This 2aaa version is way better than the 1aaa that i had on my Keychain, it's a little longer (by 1aaa battery) but has enough brightness to see across a 80ft backyard in the middle of the night where as the 1aaa is only good for things that are right in front of you (like looking for you keys that you dropped)! To be honest i didn't even know they made this size flashlight but I'm glad i ordered it and now it's on my Keychain and I'm happy with it!

Best little light ever!!
These we buy about 5 a year. They are for employees to wear on their sides and go under homes and such. They are perfect for what we do.
