How much force on the door can this withstand before breaking?

I live in FL 8 Mike's inland from the Gulf. Bars have held glass lanai doors with 55-65mph gale force hurricane wind bands. Prior to having the bars, the doors would move, not off the tracks, but I could see them bow. Hope this helps.

How easy is this to remove from a sliding glass door if necessary?

For security, It’s designed to stick to the glass to prevent the sliding doors from being opened. I have no reason to relive mine however you will probably need to use a sharp blade to remove it.

I would like to secure my patio door when it’s open 2-3” to run the whole house fan. Will these work for that?

Hi Nolana, If you put the Burglabar 2"-4" away from the edge of the door it will stop someone just trying to open the door to get in like a child or family member. However, by not being right up against the door it gives leverage for someone to use the door to break the Addalock off. If you are OK with leaving the door open a bit I suggest that you put two Burglabars side by side top and bottom of the door so that when you go to sleep or go out you can close the door and use the Burglabar that's placed in the correct position. It’s not clear how easy they lock. I don’t want to go outside and have them flip to lock me out. Do they stay unlocked?

They stay in whatever position you put them in. They aren’t spring loaded so they won’t suddenly lock you out of your house.
