Coffee table book that lives up to the positive reviews. Excellent paper, first class prints of the paintings and a mine of info in print. If you love the renassiance but can't get to Florence then this is probably the next best thing.Link this book with the "Chapel of the Magi" by C Luchinat and deep joy will result despite empty pockets. :-)

Wow, this is an amazing book, representing works in all the major galleries of Florence. It is a serious and weighty collection of magnificent paintings and accompanying texts. Beautifully assembled, and even though some of the pictures are a little small this is more than compensated for by the larger (some 2 page) illustrations. Purchased as a gift for an art loving couple who are visiting Florence for Christmas. This will be an early present for them, and I'm sure they will love it.

I have acquired The Louve, Vatican and the above. However, regardless how much I love art I am not foolish enough to pay over £70 for The Prado. ( plus, my wife would cut them off )Florence is an absolutely amazing book. I admit you could go back and forward to the Louve and still not cover it but you might see the works your looking for. Now this is were the books are totally different.Florence has its five main museums, obviously the great Uffizi but also twenty-eight additional museums and churches. I am not going to list the Artist's here but they obviously cover Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Titian Caravaggio and a great deal more. Even painters that are not that well known. Artist's that sent me over to an encyclopaedia for even more information on them because some of the work is beautiful.So, to sum this book up you have 2,000 painted works from all the notable art institutions.( Now I Cannot Be Wrong......Because I Read It At The Back Of The Bloody Box!)But seriously. This is a very very beautiful book which should give you many many days to study and also read. But again the same old adage applies: where are you going to put it. Florence weighs over 4Kg, not as bad as Michelangelo's book just over 5Kg but also hard to find a home for, hard to move and a definite broken toe if dropped on the foot ) " But Good Heavens Worth It "Plus like me, you might want Florence, Louve, Vatican, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci and a load of beautiful Taschen's.( For some reason I am not very popular in my house )Beautiful Book and Very well packaged by Amazon. Everything that other reviewers mentioned is true. It is a well written book with a lot of material about the most important museums and churches of Florence presented in chronological order. A small minus is the relation of the descriptions to the specific pictures not being done in the most reader friendly way but this is not enough in my opinion to deduct a star from the review. It's a book very worth having if someone is interested in Florence Art.

I know it's a heavy (literally) tome but worth every penny.

This book is beautiful, each page brings back memories of previous visits to this wonderful city. The book is well researched and written and to me is so exciting to read.The book came well packaged therfore protected from bumps and marks, so I would very much recommend this supplier.

Any person interested in Italian art must have this book on their shelves.

It is the best book for Florence, as far as I know, and Firinze' 'school of the world' extremely informative as to the foundations, links and development of visual arts at the centre of Renaissance in Italy, starting from earlier centuries, 12th to the 17th. A must in your library
