I had a new home built, and the entire area was exposed, clay-heavy dirt. I decided to use this to recover some of the soil quality, and protect it from erosion. Through the spring, it took off like crazy, sprouting within a week and filling the area in a month. By summer, with regular mowing, it was starting to give way to local grasses. At this point, the only plants left are in the corners with too much clay for the other species to really survive.I'm not sure I'd recommend it to someone who specifically wants clover; it's an annual, not a perennial, and most of mine is gone now that it's the start of Autumn. But it served my purposes perfectly.

I highly recommend these for cover crops. They are great quality and sprout fast. Gorgeous colored clover. Looking forward to buying these again.

This review is for Zone 5 at >9,500 feet in Colorado. This variety of clover needs temperatures over 60* to germinate. Because nighttime temperatures where I live don’t get close to that temperature until July, I initially thought this variety was going to fail. But after July, the seeds started to germinate, and by late August I saw the first blooms. By mid-September I had lovely crimson blossoms everywhere—they filled in where the earlier-blooming wildflowers had started to die off. The elk, deer, and rabbits love it, so larger patches I planted never bloomed because the animals kept it cropped. But areas where the seeds were sparsely intermixed with wildflowers, the crimson clover has flourished, and the hummingbirds love them.I docked one star because I contacted the company after re-seeding in the spring with no plants coming up, and they never responded to my inquiry. The product gets 5 stars, the company gets 2.

I distributed the seeds on clay soil on a hillside because I want it to be established before winter comes. Germination rate is good. Will buy more if it looks good in a month or so

These seeds are great! I’ve been trying to convert my yard to clover by having the clover out compete the grass rather than digging it up and I’ve been using this clover seed and their white variety and it’s working! I just mowed the lawn, spread the seeds everywhere, and then turned on the sprinkler. A few weeks later there’s dense, lush clover everywhere.

I use this as a cover crop in my raised beds (zone 4, heavy snow, strong winter winds) and it works great. Sprouts quick and does the job.
