Can this be used as Mushroom substrate?

We carry this product strictly for our fire pits. It is standard home heating hardwood pellets and does not meet any criteria for food production. We are not qualified to know if it will work as a mushroom substrate. Thank you for your question.

Did the label or formula change? My bag says "premium wood fuel pellets", not "premium hardwood pellets". "Hardwood" is not shown on my bag.

The formula did not change but the pellet manufacturer cannot guarantee that some small percentage of soft woods does not get mixed in with the hardwoods at the plant. We are told that there can be up to 10% soft wood in the bag. Thank you,

what kind of hardwood is this?

The mill uses all types of hardwood sawdust to manufacture the pellets. Generally a majority of the wood is oak but there is no guarantee of the amount. They tell us the pellets are approximately 80% hardwood and the remaining 20% composed of various other woods. Thank you for your question.

Photos shows "100% natural hardwood", however, a company response on another site says fgp20 has softwoods such as pine. is there softwood in this?

There can be up to 10% soft woods in the pellets.
