This is the perfect set for book tabs and I love them. All the colors, even the darker ones, are still translucent, although the darker shades naturally make the text a little harder to see through. The variety of colors and the size are amazing, and compared to small Post-it notes, these are so much better for marking up a book. You can write on them and the quality feels great, but make sure to test your pens first. I found that my Paper Mate InkJoy pens smudge on this material even after drying for a couple minutes, but my Sharpie extra fine felt pens work perfectly. Felt-tip pens definitely seem to perform better on these tabs. Below are photos of colors that were really dark and also light to show how it would look. As well as me test writing it. Teal color had the sharpie and the yellow had the paper ink joy. These are great but just test your pens beforehand to avoid any smudging on your book or notes.
