The Blackbird: (David Raker Missing Persons 11) Review: Will probably make my BEST READS IN 2024 list - This is an elaborate, somewhat complex and exciting tale. It is also well-written even though I am not a big fan of multiple time-lines. On the flip-side, it is too long and there are quite a few over-the-top plot elements. I'll definitely be going back for more. 4.5* Review: Smart and complex mystery, 4.5 stars - I picked this up in an airport, not realising it was the latest in a series. It didn’t matter though that I hadn’t read any earlier ones. I was immediately gripped by the story and thoroughly enjoyed the author’s skill in drawing the charachters, increasing the tension, and dropping in the surprises. I’ll be checking out the start of the series.

Wow!
This book was unputdownable. I kept wanting to see how Raker solves the mystery of the missing couple, yet I didn’t want it to end. Then BOOM! I did not see what came at the end coming. Just wow! Can’t wait to learn how David solves the problem handed to him by the Blackbird. Another excellent one from Tim Weaver.

ANOTHER home run!
Just another great story, another great thriller by clearly one of the best thrill / suspense writers today. He and Michael Robotham are without peer when it comes to storytelling

I probably write this in every review of a Tim Weaver book but this author is a master storyteller. Once again I've been kept on the edge of my seat in the latest outing with the fabulous David Raker. The writing is simply exquisite, the plot is brilliant and oh my that ending - just a fantastic piece of work. This is the 11th book in this fabulous series and it just keeps getting better - this one is definitely one of my favourites. A gem of a book that will keep you thoroughly captivated. 5 fabulous stars for the genius that is Tim Weaver

As usual, plot and place good. The guilty party explaining himself a bit long at end but before an excellent final twist. Five stars for the author but less for the editors as the print is small so when have whole chapters in italics not easy pn the eyes and the inserts on the text are even smaller!

I've read this as an ebook in just over a day, simply couldn't put it down. I've listened to quite a few of his books as audio, l prefer them to reading it doesn't tire the eyes and the actors reading make it somehow more real. Tim Weaver is an incredible author who gives depths to his characters and immerses you into the scenes he describes with infinite detail. Love it! Can't wait for his next book.

I read a lot of crime. On this one I cant understand the good reviews. Spoilers! The investigator and investigations are well told, difficult to stop reading... But the end is ridiculous....The motivation of the culprits is preposterous...it is totally unbelievable and doesnt make sense. What really made me angry was that the description of the crime scene in the beginning, which is the most intriguing part is a lie....As in all bad crime, the culprit in the end gives long monologues how they did and why...Rule No 1 of Crime. Show dont tell. And it turns out what the author "showed" us in the beginning could not have happened in the described way...the whole mysterious crime scene...months of advanced crime scene investigation leading to nothing was why this was a mystery. But it could not have happened that may: Spoilers: The husband was "bleeding profusely, blood everywhere", yet inicially it there was no mention of blood... They had to drag out two severely injured bodies, bleeding through a ravine, which they hadnt planned, within minutes of a fireball and the emergency services arriving...there would have blood everywhere...footprints in the soot...all around...drag marks of the bodies being carried...the criminal did not have a car ready down there but up the top...total fraud....lazy rip off author!
