The look of a factory installation without the headache of dealing w. the fuse box
This is a hardwire charger cable designed to power dash-cams, radar detectors, and other USB-C devices directly from your vehicle's OBD or OBD2 port. This eliminates the need for connections to the car battery, fuse box, or cigarette lighter. It features two work modes: "ACC" for when you only want the device powered when your car is on, and "Surveillance" for always-on (for things like 24-hour parking monitoring). There is a switch to select which mode you want. It was really easy to just plug it into my car's OBD port to power my dash cam. Having to deal with the fuse box would have been a nightmare, since the fuse box isn't in the passenger cabin on my car (Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid). NOTE: the first one I received did not work in ACC mode, I had it replaced and the second one did work in ACC mode (where it provides power only when the car is ON). Pros: – Easy and convenient power source directly from the OBD port – Eliminates wiring to the fuse box (or cigarette lighter which is ugly) – Switchable between two modes: ACC and 24-hour Surveillance – Built-in low voltage protection shut off power draw to prevent car battery total drain – USB-C compatible (can also convert to other USB types using a USB adapter cable) – Simple to install - just plug it into the OBD port Cons: – Reliability may not be great - my first one didn't work in ACC mode Overall, despite the issue with the first charger cable, I would still recommend this as a great solution to power a dash cam. The cable can be routed along the edge of the windshield keeping it out of sight like a factory install, which is much harder to do if you're plugging it into a cigarette lighter which is usually in the center console of your car. Get the look of a factory install without the hassle of dealing w. the fuse box.

limited ability with Viofo cams
It will power my Viofo A119 mini, but will not work in surveillance. Strictly turn on & off with the ignition Update - the seller reached with a refund and apologized for the issue. While it does not correct the issue, it does make it right. I appreciate their support and the fantastic customer support.

Good buy
Easy connection. Durable. Works well. Runs my cam for about 10 hours before it shuts off due to my battery getting down to 11v.

Not as advertised!
I ordered this item to install in a new vehicle I was about to purchase. I finally got my Car, A 2021 GMC Arcadia Denali. I finally installed it, but after the expiration of the return date had passed. The 1st time I let the car sit for about 3 days I found the battery dead. Called road service and they came to give me a jump start and the guy told me to turn off all elecrtical items prior to him connecting the jump battery. I unplugged the device from the OBD and made sure all items were off and the car started OK. I drove for about 1/2 hour @ 45+mph to make sure the battery was fully charged. I restored all the switches etc to normal and plugged the Device back into the OBD connector. The very next morning "DEAD BATTERY" ????? Got another jump start from the newly purchased NOCO GB40 Boost Plus I ordered from Amazon for $99.95, and left the OBD unit unplugged and the car has no more depleted battery issues. I plugged the OBD device back into the port and used an old dash camera for a test. This was done to eliminate the car and the new cameras I installed. The camera never lost power even after the ACC had timed out. I then cut the wire off the OBD unit and wired the installed cameras to the power port in my console and have had no further problems with battery or the camera operation. Routing the power to my cameras was very difficult so I cut the old OBD units cable and used it to connect to my power point. Summation: The switch on the OBD unit I purchased does not turn off the 5V output when placed in etiher position, (it puts out 5V when ever it's plugged in regardless) Plus the fact that the advertised battery drain circuit either does not function properly (does not shut down when battery is below 11.6) or is non existant in this unit. Did they mix up and send the wrong style???? Doubt that but possible. Anyway don't waste your coin of the realm on this item, it's junk!

Faulty cable or garbage product? EDIT: 10/10 customer service
This power adapter constantly reboots the dashcam I bought it to power. It'll work for ~5 minutes then the dashcam powers off, restarts and works for ~2 minutes until repeating that cycle indefinitely. I tried powering the dashcam with a 12v adapter as well as a standard USB and both work flawlessly. This OBD adapter is the only power source that causes issues with my dashcam. Edit: The seller reached out and remediated the issues I had with the product. Their customer service is top notch and I can highly recommend them now!

provides two power options
debated hard wired, hijacking an existing fuse - the benefit of this is the two power options
