Nice design, works well.
Nice design, works well, quite heavy and solid, many people in the office have tried to Ali Baba.

Fit a proper FriXion refill first
TLDR: a well-made pen, and if you like brass things, you'll love it. But the refill is a cheap generic, so whether this is a gift or a treat for yourself, order a pack of proper Pilot FriXion refills at the same time and replace the one supplied right away, because it's awful. I'm a writing instrument geek and I obsess so that you don't have to. There aren't many luxury versions of FriXion pens, except the Biz models, and that's a pity considering it's a refillable system. I have a brass fountain pen, pencil, and ballpoint that more or less match despite being different brands, so as a fairly heavy user of FriXion for colour-coded scheduling, I just had to have this bolt-action pen when I spotted it. (Completist as well as obsessive, you see.) It's well-finished and pleasantly heavy (51g) but it's nicely balanced even for my average-sized female hand. The subtle ribbed knurling on the grip makes it comfortable to hold without feeling like you're grasping a knuckleduster. Pros: * very sturdy – tactical pen level, in fact * well-finished and the bolt action works smoothly * remarkably cheap, especially for the quality * the only brass pen I know of that can accommodate Frixion refills * replacement eraser included (and it does work fine if you use a light, rapid polishing action) * as the eraser end unscrews, you can remove the clip that way if you want to – I did, not being a clip fan, and it just leaves a small gap that looks like a natural part of the design * (edited) all the FriXion refills seem to fit, including the 0.4 Synergy type – some of those have a differently-shaped "nose" and they stopped the bolt retracting at first, but a bit of repositioning sorted it Cons: * the refill that's supplied, but only because a first-time erasable pen user might think FriXion is terrible and give up A complaint I've seen on various review sites is that the Smootherpro eraser isn't as good as the FriXion one. It's certainly a different size, so swapping them will take some modding, but I suspect the problems that people have described are more about technique. The trick is to go for speed rather than pressure – you're trying to heat the ink to create a chemical change that makes it turn transparent, not actually removing it as you would with an eraser on lead pencil marks. Fast light rubbing works best. Actually, you don't necessarily need a dedicated eraser to rub out FriXion – try anything made of hard, smooth plastic. Overall, a very decent pen at a great price, and enormously satisfying if dismantling well-machined brass bits is your thing.

Good Pen - some downsides
Great looking pen, uses the frixion refills which are great especially paired with a rocket book. I like the brass construction it's solid and looks great. The bolt action is fun and a nice fidget toy. Couple of downsides - the weight - I know that should be obvious for a metal pen but it seems so much heavier than a steel jacket jotter or something like that, could be a little fatigueing if your writing alot. The eraser feels a bit cheap and I've not found it to be that effective it seems harder than the normal erases on the disposable frixion pens. The ribbed grip I'm honestly not a fan of the feel of it but that's personal preference. Am I happy with it? Yes. Would I buy it again if I was looking for a brass bolt action pen? Probably

A good pen but......
This is a nice pen, however the one I received wasn't working and I therefore contacted the seller who suggested I return it. Actually all I wanted was a replacement refill, which I told the seller on several occasions but this request was ignored. Having looked on line I found a refill, which wasn't expensive so I kept the pen. It's just a shame that the seller wasn't interested in resolving the issue is a way that was satisfactory for me. So, feel free to buy the pen but don't expect any help from the seller if it's faulty!

Problem
Then pen it’s self is stylish in looks could be a bit heavy for some. Unfortunately the nib is of a poor quality unless it’s faulty , when writing the nib produces two black lines with a white gap in between, so I shall be returning this product.

Beau design mais un peu lourd

I love these Smootherpro pens that take the erasable Frixion refills. This one is the first I’ve gotten with the bronze finish, but the silver and gray models are pretty sweet, too. These pens have wonderful heft and are nicely machined for good hand-feel. Of course, the bolt action mechanism is fun and works smoothly* (plus sturdy, too). The big eraser is superior to the one that the OEM Pilot pens have, plus Smootherpro gives you an extra eraser in the nicely gift-able pen box. (I’ve never come even close to wearing out a Frixion-type eraser though.) The metal Pilot Frixion pens are very nice, but they have a screw-off top that covers the small eraser; not convenient. Basically, this is now my favorite pen and at a bargain price. *History: Pilot Frixion refills *always* work smoothly in the Smootherpro pens, but the SmootherPro standard refill *occasionally* has a *very slightly* sharper little edge on the plastic where the metal rollerball tip is inserted. First-time user might feel a little catch in the bold-action. This is due to that little edge catching on the exit hole in the pen tip. Me, I include an OEM Pilot Frixion refill with a Smootherpro pen if it is a gift.
