A bit snug
I picked up this swimsuit to train for an upcoming sprint triathlon. I must say that going from a pair of baggy surfer jammers to these made quite a difference in speed. I have only used them 5 times in the past 2 weeks, so I cannot make comment on durability, but I will update the report later on. In terms of fit, I usually wear a pair of size 32 pants (jeans or khakis) and they are usually a bit loose (so I'm more of a size 31). I bought a size 32 swimsuit and it fits just about right at the waist, but the bottom of the swimsuit just above the knees is a bit too snug. It's snug enough where I'm always fiddling with the leg openings whenever I stop swimming. I would recommend buying 1 size up from what you would normally wear in order to avoid this. Otherwise, it looks great and really made me much speedier. The suit doesn't have pockets, but has a nice liner on the inside.------------ [Update 8/26/2010]Well, I have lost about 10 lb since I started using this suit and my waist size is now about a 30 (5'6", 138lb, 30" inseam, small frame, swimmer's build). I'm still doing triathlons (that includes biking and running) so I don't think my thigh size has decreased. I can say that even after 5 months of use (about 2x/wk) it's still really snug at the leg openings. Just to check it out, I bought a size 34 and the leg openings are no longer a problem. The suit does not have that compression/skin tight feel to it, but it's not baggy either. If you are a competitive swimmer, I would suggest keeping things snug/skin tight. Casual swimmer or just for training, the looser fit is nice. Also of note is that the length of the leg is a bit longer with the bigger size. Crotch to end of leg is about 9.5" based on my measurement. To comment on durability, it's been holding up fine. I rinse it on tap water after my swim then spin it dry (at the YMCA) or if I'm at Bally's then I just roll it in my towel and press on it through the towel roll until it's damp dry. Do not wring it out or else it will stretch. I hand wash it in the sink with a squirt of laundry detergent every once in a while and dry it with a towel roll then hang. Do not dry it in the dryer.I also agree with the review that follows mine. The blue color in the picture is really close to the actual product color.

Newer, Much-Improved Fabric
I swim laps nearly every day, so having a swimsuit that lasts a long time without the fabric thinning out is very important. Therefore, the Speedo Endurance fabric line is a must! I have three other pairs that are of the Endurance line, but that are older. The Endurance line is great, because it's made from polyester, and therefore lasts longer in chlorine-filled pools. This new pair that I bought is even better! Speedo must've improved its polyester fabric, because this new pair is more flexible. The fabric seems lighter and more flexible, so it feels like spandex, even though it isn't. The older Endurance polyester is a bit more rigid and doesn't have as much give in the fabric. This new, improved Endurance fabric is amazing! I will definitely buy more when I need to replace the old ones.As for sizing, I generally wear a 31 or 32 waist for pants, jeans and walking shorts, but for this product, I bought a 30 and it fits perfectly. It is after all supposed to fit snug, like second skin.My only request from Speedo is they ought to make them in more colors, other than black. The choice of different colors on the sides of the suit is fine, but new colors for the main part of the jammer would be nice.

perfect
For swim workouts, Speedo Jammers are the way to go, especially if you don't have the body of an Olympic swimmer. They are comfortable and look way better than the bikini brief or square cut Speedos, both of which I have. Also, it may be a placebo effect but I actually felt that my performance increased in these shorts. The fabric of the Sonic Splice is nicer than that of the Rapid Splice so pay the extra $6 and get these. I bought them both and sent back the Rapid Spice because the quality isn't as good. I bought a size 34 and the fit is perfect. I'm 5'9" and 169 pounds and wear most things in a size 36 but I wouldn't want this swimsuit any bigger so I'm glad I went with the smaller size. They come down about 3" short of my knees. They also have a very long drawstring on the inside. My buddy who swore he'd never wear a Speedo bought a pair of these for training and loves them. I've only been using them once a week for a couple months so I can't attest to their long-term durability but so far they still look like new.

Speedo Mens Sonic Splice just great so far
I have worn this suit for a couple of weekends and love it. As other reviewers noted I bought one size up so 36 vs a pants size 34. I am 5'9" 170 lbs they are not too tight on waist and I think will fit well even if I get closer to my target weight under 165. I did not find them too tight on my thighs but while I do some weight lifting would guess my legs are pretty average. Important to note this fabric does not act at all like lycra and has little to no stretch. For me overall fit is great. I chose this particular style because they were about 10% cheaper than the other Speedos made from the Endurance fabric. Better than basic black anyway. I swim weekends in the winter about an hour a day and usually every day over the holidays. Our Y pool uses a lot of chlorine. My last lycra speedo was showing wear in less than one year. Based on other reviews I would hope if I rinse in cold water after each swim this should last for years. Will update later if my results vary
