I am looking for a small rocket stove to keep my garden office warm..it would be used mainly for heating, and tea-making. Would this be suitable?

Hi, the La Plancha are designed for use in covered, ventilated kitchen areas for cooking food in developing nations. 30,000 were distributed in Chiapas in Mexico. Space heating is less important for these areas. Whilst being great at directing flue gases to the chimney, and heat at the cooking plate (the La Plancha) the stove is effectively unsealed by UK standards, incorrect use might mean flue gases and smoke (including CO) might flow back into a sealed area . We recommend ventilation before, during and after any use of the the stove. As a cooking tool it's great, but any space heating is subsidiary, at your own risk and not the purpose of the unit. I know of people who have installed these in small spaces for the purposes you suggest and have made them aware of the risks, and it's very important for us to make customers fully aware of these risks, you're handling a fire after all!. how long can this be kept running safely for in one sitting? how long does it take to cool down so it can be moved too? thx

Hi , it's a refractory item meaning not effected by heat. I've used it for hours at a time and when the diatomaceous clay core is heated up it maintain good heat output for very minimal fuel. Long term use will require the ash to be removed from the two warm air reservoirs, about once an hour. It will be hot for some time after use, but can be moved as long as the fires stopped, hot charcoals removed etc and it's isolated from anything it can melt.

i am seriosly considering to buy one, i will be selling street food at markets and events etc so im looking for altenatives to gas you see

A great option, you will save money not buying gas, benefit the taste of your cooking with a real wood fire and attract people with the environmental message...no fossil fuels.

Could this be bolted to the floor in a caravan???

Hi RhenThe La Plancha has a bit of weight so usually is very stable. It doesnt have any fixing holes in the base. But it could easily by 'clamped' down using the bottom plate of the rear wood store. We couldn't recommend drilling holes, but I'm sure people have done this. I'm assuming you wanted to keep the stove still while in transit.Hope this help?
