Q: So does this basically allow you to not have to use an Ethernet cable?

I have 2 networked Pc's both using Linksys WUSB6300 AC1200 adapters .They work to my Virgin media wireless router with no issues .

I use it with the Lenovo Yoga 710 without any problems. The Cat 7 cable (compared to 5 and 6) should not influence whether it works or not. Cat 7 is a better cable with shielding allowing higher speed over longer distances.

Q: Does this work with 5ghz?

My route outputs a 2.4ghz and 5ghz network.So have the option of joining either one dependent on what I'm doing. 9/10 I opt to join the 5ghz network with no problems
