Is the keyboard backlit? The specs say single color backlight but the keys don't light up.

I don’t think the keyboard has a backlit option.

Why cant I get this to connect??

You need to read the instructions. There is a few keys that you have to push simultaneously to get the Bluetooth on the keypad to actually turn on. Once it’s turned on then you’ll see the name come up in your iPad or whatever device you’re connecting it to and then you can connect it. But you won’t be able to do it without pushing those three keys simultaneously first. I forgot which keys they are exactly but they are in the instructions.

would the keyboard work with non-Latin languages? right to left ones (like Arabic or Hebrew)?

Yes, my son said it is working with any language as long you already downloaded the language from the settings on your iPad.
