Nice set of Glenfiddich's three signature malts
A nice, affordable little set of the three signature (12, 15 & 18 years old, respectively) malts from the Glenfiddich range. As the juggernaut of the single-malt Scotch world [they were largely responsible for inventing the sector], Glenfiddich is a brand some whisky fans love to hate for its popularity, but in reality remains a more-than-decent product, with a few caveats. Immediately distinctive with its triangular shaped bottle, these three minatures echo the theme, and provide a good insight into the distillery and its products, at a reasonable price. This is both good and bad: good, because of the perspective it gives for not a lot of cash. Bad because it does reveal in fairly stark terms just what a jump in quality you are getting with the two older offerings. Taste has rarely been an issue for Glenfiddich. They're actually stunningly consistent -a major achievement if you're not churning out inexpensive blends. The 12 year old entry-level malt is its usual familiar self -pine, pear (particularly pear), some green apple, blossom and a relatively crisp malt biscuit. Where it can trip up is the finish: it does have a small alcohol burn. Minor, and compared to some cheap blends its in another league as far as quality goes. But it is present. A good product, although it struggles to justify recent price-rises so best if you buy when on offer. Shift to the 15 year old and -curses. Yes, it's better. A lot better. Gone is that slight alcohol burn; the signature pear is still present, but takes a step back: everything here is denser, warmer, the pears and apples now baked, a touch (a touch) of warm spice present, and some autumnal fruits start to appear. The finish is longer, smooth, still warm. An excellent release and punches easily with price rivals, even if it doesn't have the exclusivity of smaller distilleries. Another worth keeping an eye out for when it's on offer. Step up to the 18 year old, and- &%@@£*. Yes, it's excellent. Another step up. Rich bramble fruits (pear still lurking, with some apple). Smooth, warm, depressingly easy to drink. Some wood, soft, beautifully balanced, elegant, lots of layers. As the most expensive offering from their signature series, you'd hope it would be better than the others, and it is, but it's not a small jump, good as the 15 year old release certainly is for the money. In quality terms, it's absolutely a £100 whisky. Whether that makes a full bottle affordable for many is another matter -it's tragically out of my price range, but this affordable gift / minature set does make it occasionally accessible for special occasions, and it's worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Great gift idea
Great price, well packaged and arrived quicker than expected. Unfortunately it was a gift so I couldn't sample it for myself.

Great tasting Whiskey.
This was bought as a Christmas gift, they really love this Whiskey and it offers a great selection. It is well packaged box but I think it's expensive for the amount of whiskey you actually get. Other than that I would recommend this Whiskey especially for a good gift.

Cheap way to try a superb 18
A great opportunity to try the Glenfiddich range. The pick of the bunch here is obviously the 18 and the multi pack makes this incredible value. I dare say if you wanted to try the 18 at a bar it would cost the same as this entire pack.
