Laptop registers the dvd but then the videos weeren't playing.

After the laptops stopped providing DVD reader/writer I could not access the data stored in my old DVDs. They were lying with me for long time. I ordered this for specific purpose of taking backup of my old DVDs into external HDDs. So it is not meant much for writing DVDs, but reading data and films that I want to keep. I was not expecting much, but as reader, the drive is working fine for many of my DVDs. Some DVDs struggle and only one is not getting recognised, among almost 12 to 15 film and data DVDs I have tried till now. So I suppose it works fine. It is not very expensive, quick plug-and-play and comes in good packing, however it is not very thin or light-weight, but not bulky either. Quite functional. I haven't tried using it to write data, so cannot say anything about the write efficiency.

The player didn't get registered by pc; after getting it replaced, it kept showing me the loading screen, and it didn't work. The player I received did not have the company name (Gotega) written on it, and pick up driver was giving me a hard time about it. In short, it doesn't work, and you will have to go through extra hassle or just return it and argue with the driver when you return it.

Works well...reads well Didn't use it to write yet. Just took lossless backup of audio CDs into flac. Hibymusic plays them on my op12. Can use usb dac and iem to hear them

Very good performance, 8x speed dvd writer.Only one problem there is no brand name! Unbranded item but very nice quality & reliable price and good performance.Anyone can buy honestly.

Not working with all dvd's

this device has some issues like it is hard to find a blank disk if you dismiss the pop up notice. Macbook burn program does not work well with this item you can't play cd's directly from the disc. not all dvd's play directly from the disc yet some play remarkably easily. it is a little noisy as are some devices of this type when fitted into a computer. the dvd's that won't play may be a formatting issue.

Great price point. Works really well. Very light weight and small. Tucks nicely away when not in use.
