Yes, it does have a thick lining to help wick away water and keep warm. If there is only a small amount of moisture, he can wear it directly. However, it is not recommended to use it as a towel, and it is better to dry himself and wear the jacket.

How heavy is the parka?

It’s extremely lightweight (I’d say around 2 lbs), but surprisingly, very warm. My daughter has been wearing it after swimming and jumping into sub-freezing temps outside.
