Dr. Quendt - Genuine Dresdner Christstollen Gift Boxed - 1.0 kg Review: On my list to reorder for next Christmas - I had hoped to buy a Stollen, and ideally one from Dresden, at a local German store. By the time I got there they had sold out. I bought this product, and two other variations as well. As pointed out by others, this product keeps well and benefits from aging. My sister tells me that in Germany they would eat the last of the Christmas Stollen at Easter, and that it was better then than when "fresh" from the local bakery in Dresden. I suspect that packaged and shipped products like this one have already done a bit of aging before they get to your doorstep. It's not a bad thing. I found this to be a very delicious product. I normally get a version with Marzipan in it, which I also love, but this version with raisins, almonds, and bitter almonds is a wonderful treat. My wife was concerned when I bought it that I would not eat more than a slice or two. Her fears have been addressed. :-) It will not be "aging" very long. If this product is still available by the time I have finished the other two Stollen I bought, one still on the way, then I may order another one. It is traditionally a seasonal treat, and so I may have to wait until the fall. That said, it is on my list of things to order for Christmas 2021. It's a lovely ending to a traditional German roast goose dinner. Review: A little taste of home - I’m German, and this is a must have for me for the holidays. Perfect amount of raisins, nice and moist, both taste and texture are excellent.

STALE! - Best By Date of Sept. 2021 on 4 Stollen Received on November 9, 2021
I have bought this specific item several times in November or December in prior years to give as Christmas gifts and was always satisfied. Ususally, the "Best By Date" is around March of the following year. I ordered 4 Stollen in early November and was very dissapointed that the "Best By Date" was in Sept. 2021 on the 4 Stollen that I received on November 9th. I cannot give these outdated Stollen as gifts. As the pull tab was already open on 2 boxes (probably from shipment in a box with other heavy items), I took 1 Stollen out of it's box. The inside bag already had frut juices inside it from the Stollen, and the sugar was rather dark, typical of Stollen that has been sitting for a few months. The Stollen was not very attractive, nothing like the picture on the box. Tasting a slice, it was edible, but not as moist as previous Stollen.. Best to buy only1 first to see if its fresh. I will remember that next year!

Delicious!
Stollen was delivered fresh and delicious! I wasn’t certain what to expect since it’s now mid January!

Good option
It was good - right density and texture, but not as sweet as I’m used to. That might be due to the fact that I’m American. But if my local bakery stops carrying it then this is a good replacement

Just like I remember it from childhood.
I was born in Dresden and my grandma always made stollen every Christmas. This one is very close to how my grandma made it. Very tasty to the last bit. It is important how to store it. Ideally, you want to keep it in the bag it comes in and you should store it in a cold and dark place. The basement is ideal, a cool pantry does work too, do not store it in the fridge. Stollen has to ripen, so don't open it too early in the season. Slice it 1/2 inch thick slices like bread. Enjoy with a cup of coffee or unsweetened tea. Please note this is not Marzipan, but rather made with bitter almonds, so it is a bit less sweet and delicious. I am thinking of getting another one.

Fresh & Delicious
Took a shot with this hoping but not expecting the cake to be good. But it was not stale and the quality excellent.

Quality review
It tastes stale and very dry, seems old. Tried it before many times, shouldn’t taste like that.
