Optimistic this battery will see me through the next few winters. The car certainly leaps into life when turning the ignition. Its supposed to be better than the standard car batteries at cold starts, staying charged when subjected to multiple short journeys and when there is a high drain from internal electrical components. Only time will tell I guess as only fitted it a few weeks ago.

Replaced worn-out battery in VW Golf mark 6, (2013 reg). VW dealer cost is around £400, and I think they will put the smaller-power version of this battery in, (so I could have bought that on here, and saved even more money). I checked the max power-draw, (Amps), and storage capacity, (Ampere-hours), and this battery is the one they fit to 1.6l and above Golfs, whereas ours is 1.4, and teh engine is not so heavy to turn over, so doesn't need such a large battery. So far as I know, the same starter motor is used across the range, and so I was not worried getting the slightly higher power, (Don't take my word for that though - make sure you check your own one). It was only about £10 more expensive for this one, but the stop-start activates more crisply than ever it did before, and really does make the car feel like it was when it was new. I've noticed no heating, or other problems, and am really happy. I've rated it 5 stars for value-for-money, as the VW one was so much more. Even at Halfords, this same battery is double that price, and at the local auto-store it was the same double-price. I've rated 5 stars for longevity - but tbh we've only had it for a couple of weeks, so can't really comment. The battery it replaced was the same brand, (lower power), and that lasted 7/8 years or so from new, so I am confident giving this one 5 stars, because the original one was Exide brand, also. Fitting it took around 1 minute. You need only a 10mm socket for the battery terminals, and a 13mm socket for the mounting bolt, (just 1 bolt clamps it on). Be careful with the battery leads, and make sure you remove the positive first, (and fit that last when re-fitting). Remember that the engine, and most other metal components you could spark on, is linked to the negative, and with any loose petrol or oil in the engine bay there will be a huge and unacceptable risk, (make sure you wipe any completely, (and I mean completely), away before fiddling with batteries), because there is a very real fire-hazard if you start sparking around near petrol; you might save a few pounds on a battery, and lose your whole car, (and even be injured or hurt someone else).

Excellent. Arrived next day, fully charged. A straight swap on a 2010 vw polo 1.6tdi, with a couple of extra Cold Crank Amps. 5 minute job using a 10mm and a 13mm socket set (and extender bar to get the battery tray clamp off/on). Quick and easy.

Battery (type 027) was purchased for a VW Golf V6 4Motion (MkIV 2000 model year). I searched for a compatible battery for some time - Halfords and other suppliers were suggesting a larger battery (type 096) that would be physically difficult to install in the cramped bay on this particular model. Using Exide's data I was able to exactly match the new battery dimensions to the old one and ensure a perfect fit - particularly important as I wanted to reuse the jacket that insulates the battery from the heat of the engine. This Exide 027te EA640 Premium battery is rated at 640 cold cranking amps and capacity 64Ah, a useful improvement on the OEM item especially as my car features heated seats, mirrors, etc. The battery has a very smart and sturdy case and 'magic eye' indicator, normally coloured green, on top. This indicator is hidden on my car because it is covered by a fuse bracket. Fortunately, and to my great relief, this bracket clipped easily into place on the new battery. Battery arrived promptly just 2 days after ordering (I paid less than £4.00 for express delivery). Being 18kg it was very well packaged; sealed in a polythene bag within a strong box with polysterene blocks to prevent any damage or movement during shipping. The plastic terminal covers shown in the photos are simply removed by lifting the carry-handle, on my car this had to be done before refitting the fuse bracket as this effectively locks down the carry-handle, on other vehicles this would not necessarily be an issue. Since the battery was delivered charged I sucessfully cold-started the car first turn of the key. Overall I'm extremely pleased.
