I love cultural anthropology, and as she did her study, she found many ways to craft and how important it was that people had a skill to make their own life gardens shoes, shoes were very important and during her studies, she learned how to craft all these different ways so I’m not sure if she has a PhD or a masters, but it is written so anyone can understand it but so thoroughly the author is definitely brilliant now I have to get all the other books and check out her ball blog I would recommend this book and I would buy it again and I will buy all her other books. It looks so fun I’m so excited.

The author shows the reader how to makes practical leather-soled boots using hand tools and no sewing machine. Very informative and practical. If you want to make period boots for reenactments, this will get you well on your way.

Loved reading this book which will join a collection that I keep as reference for making shoes. Just be aware it only contains directions for derby shoes and ankle boots. However, it gives instruction on the entire process and uses leather and hand sewing, not glue and machines. For those just starting out, it is doable with a little persistence. The pattern section was a bit tedious to me. I just tape up a last and draw my pattern, then transfer it to paper. For those who are more mathematical, her technique may work better.

I love how simple Neda makes shoemaking! Literally anyone that likes crafting could so easily jump into this craft with the help of this book. Clearly written with tons of photos- I first bought it as an ebook and I think that first format is why she has such great variety of photos for each step! I really appreciate her knowledge and highly recommend this book. If you’re on the fence- YES!

Temevo che, come purtroppo molti altri testi simili, fosse lacunoso e superficiale nella trattazione...invece una graditissima sorpresa...molto completo e illuminante. Certo i passaggi teorici non sostituiscono l'esperienza legata alla manualità delle operazioni, ma comunque sono spiegati molto bene. Ovvio è necessario partire da una buona forma. Comunque consigliato!
