Hamilton Beach 2-in-1 Countertop Toaster Oven and Long Slot 2 Slice Toaster, 60 Minute Timer and Automatic Shut Off, Shade Selector, Stainless Steel (31156)

I bought this toaster oven because it came highly recommended from a review in a consumer reviewing magazine. It is fantastic! It has an unusual design, where there is a toaster slot at the top, but a totally separate door at the front for baking or broiling items. The toaster slot at the top is very wide, and it accepts even the biggest pieces of rye bread that I get from my local delicatessen. It was very difficult to tell from the product description and the photos whether the slot at the top was one long slot (Yesudas), or two shorter slots. I was very happy to learn that it is one long slot. Of course, it also fits two pieces of bread at the same time. I have had it for almost a month now, and it has worked flawlessly. The price was nice, too!

My mom had an older version of this toaster that finally quit working after 20+ years. This is a great product and I use it for toast and warming up food on a regular basis. I've had it several months now and no problems.

Update Jan 25, 2026. Still the only thing like it on the market and 8ish years later ours is still working as well as when it arrived. Update June 22, 2021. We've had this toaster oven for nearly three years now. We use almost daily and it is still going strong. Our unit arrived with an oven timer that didn't work, which I didn't notice for a very long time, so definitely check it upon initial purchase. The casing gets VERY hot so do not leave anything plastic touching it as it will almost certainly melt. We have lost many a ziploc bag and takeout container. But I would 100% buy this again as there is nothing else on the market that has the toaster slot and oven function in one machine. We've been using this unit for about 3 months pretty steadily. The main reason to buy it is so that you don't have two appliances cluttering your countertop. The oven part works quite well. The toaster part on top is adequate. It does toast, but it isn't very even and one side tends to get browner than the other. You also need to shorten the time when toasting a second batch as it toasts more quickly since the oven is already heated. If you are picky about your toast, then this unit is probably not for you. However, it works great for us. I can fit 3 of the smaller slices of bread in the top slot and it also handles the longer gourmet bread slices just fine. The outside of the unit does get extremely hot, especially the top, so don't put anything meltable on it or touching it. I originally got the smaller version of this toaster, but it really is VERY small. Since it arrived damaged, I replaced it with this one and really don't have any major complaints. I do wish there was a 4 slice version.

five stars, great toaster, wonderful oven that heats up in a very short time, cooked pizza in it, great, cooked breakfast rolls in it, better than great,, no waiting for a large oven to heat up.

This toaster oven is a convenient size and works well. It toasts relatively evenly in the slot on top and can accommodate large pieces. The oven door closes tightly and retains the heat inside better than the previous toaster oven that I owned.

Came back to rate this Toaster Oven higher. Initially I found “toaster function very annoying. Plunger had to be forcefully depressed several times before it engaged. What the heck! It is a TOASTER oven, and cannot reliably be depended upon to perform that function expeditiously.” And I gave it 1 star. Since then, I have stumbled upon a simple solution! Press plunger down gently, and hold for a one count. So far, after several weeks, it has functioned smoothly and reliably every time. I have canceled my return, and will continue to use it, and have bumped my rating to a 3. It’s still a meh kitchen counter appliance, but the toaster works.

Some reviews mention the heat not coming on as fast, but it’s been great thus far. Toaster is great, and the oven as well. I thought the spacing w the toaster area closed would take away too much space but it not been an issue for quick reheats. I also like the options w the knobs. Fits nicely under the cabinets on the counter. Awesome value

Toaster function is flawless, perfect on both sides, even color and through cooked. Ignore people saying it is hard to use. You have to hold the lever down for 1 second until red light comes on. Perfect toast on 2 and half setting. Waffles on 3. 5 is max. There is a reason for this in case you got you toast in there wonky or it slipped sideways and want to fix it real quick, just release. Slot is wide for bagels so some little skinny tiny piece of pumpkin toast might need adjusting. Think you are done and want to eject early? Hit red light button. Done. Corn dogs are notoriously difficult with my older toasters. I put two in the microwave for 50sec to defrost. Use rack on bottom setting. 8 min at 350. They come out perfect all the way around without constantly rotating them. Heated all way through. Kids love it. Fully eliminated two appliances for one and it looks nice too. The lack of digital controls is good. Knobs and buttons, less to break, simple for kids to use also. Ambient heat is no different than any other toaster I have had. The toast may sit low in the slot if your bread is small so yes use common sense when plucking it out. Even my kids understand that one. Highly recommend .

3 in one kitchen appliance. Love its compact,sleek,thoughtful design. Gave away toaster,and rarely turn on my big oven or stove elements,as this does it all. Only 1 or 2 of us dining most days and this makes perfect size baked,toasted or heated servings. Toast crispy snd brown too. Winner appliance!
