If there’s one thing Lena Hendrix knocks out of the park EVERY TIME, it’s writing the perfect steamy small town romances! When I saw Lena had a new book out I dropped everything to snatch it off KU. Lena is an auto-buy author of mine, someone I KNOW will not disappoint. . Starting off with a hilariously disastrous meet-cute, Lena packed this book full of laughs. Between scheming side characters, a fun small town setting, undeniable chemistry and some toe-curling spice, this book hits all the spots. I’ve been totally small town/single parent obsessed in 2023 and after binge reading this, I don’t see that changing any time soon! There is just something about these tropes that I just LOVE to read. . As the first book in Lena’s new Sullivan Family series, we met a ton of great characters that I can’t wait to see get their own books, plus a few hints at a deep family rivalry that has the town split. I can already tell I’m going to love this series and I can’t recommend book one enough!! Wyatt, the mmc, is a single dad, formal NFL player turned college football coach in town to escape life for a bit and give his daughter a bit of breathing room outside of the city. Lark is in town on what is supposed to be a temporary trip, but finds herself quickly sucked in by the town and the people who live there. The found family aspect of this book was so fun and I can tell there will be many more people welcomed into the fold before this series ends! . All in all, a great read and free on kU so go grab it!!

I love when a grumpy guy tries to convince himself he doesn’t want the girl, and Wyatt Sullivan is a grump, but he’s a soft grump. Lark’s career, while unconventional, did make me giggle. One Look by Lena Hendrix gave me all the warm and fuzzy feels with this small town, found family, single dad ♡s the nanny romance. Plus, Penny was a real gem!

𝖱𝖺𝗍𝗂𝗇𝗀: ★★★★.𝟮𝟱 This is the first book in The Sullivan Family series, and all I could think when I finished it was how did it take me so long to read a Lena Hendrix book? This had everything I love! Small town, single dad romance, sign me up! Wyatt Sullivan is a grumpy single dad and former NFL star turned college football coach who heads to his hometown after years away. Outtatowner, Michigan, is a small coastal town with two rival families and a lot to give. Lark Buttler is a sunshine who doesn’t feel a connection to any place she has lived. When she gets hired to cry at a funeral in a quaint small town, she decides to stick around for a bit and see how it goes. However, neither of them expected that they would end up as neighbors and that this would make ignoring one another that much more difficult. With time, Lark starts breaking down Wyatt’s walls, and the story just gets better. Wyatt hires Lark to be his personal assistant, and the more they spend time together, the more they share parts of themselves that no one else knows. The small-town vibes were so good in this one… The side characters that you can’t wait to know more about, the funny moments, the gossip (with an all-female book club that I wish I could be a part of), and all the tension that the town rivalry provides. The spice scenes were incredible - I’m still not over them. And Wyatt’s dirty mouth was just perfect!! I can't wait for the rest of this series! I'm almost done with the second book, and I can safely say that you should add this series to your TBR if it's not in it already! The small town setting and the side characters were great, but I couldn’t warm up to Wyatt. Like not at all. He was like a blurry picture for me. I enjoyed the Lark‘s side of the story and Penny was cute. I will probably read the other books in the series because I‘m interested in Wyatt‘s brothers. But the romantic plot didn’t catch me.

I loved this book so much. It was hilarious and such a wild ride in parts (RIP Eggburt), achingly sweet and swoony in other parts, red hot with the spicy scenes (I mean WOW with Daddy Wyatt’s mouth), and a little emotional with big themes about family, both blood and found. A found family trope is my kryptonite. It is known. Combine that with single dad and small town? Complete goner. Wyatt Sullivan is moving back to his small, coastal hometown in Michigan with his adorable daughter Penny (Pickle) in toe. Lark is passing through as a hired mourner at a local funeral. She ends up loving it there and decides to stay for a bit, and moves in next to Wyatt. Of course, the sparks fly and they fall hard. Grumps are also my kryptonite, and Wyatt was just delicious. I love how he learns to soften and be vulnerable and romantic with Lark. Lark is a bit flighty and aimless, trying to figure out who she is. She ends up finding her footing and everything she wants in the small town with Wyatt and Pickle. They had great character growth and their HEA was SO SWEET. I’m excited for the next couple, Wyatt’s sister Kate (yessss to a tie in to the Redemption Ranch series) and their brother Duke’s best friend Beckett. The quirky town with all of the hilarious nicknames really drew me in and I’m always a sucker for a series where we see all of the siblings find love. It was all really well set up in this first book.
