Farina 1709 Original Eau de Cologne

WOW... this is the REAL thing!! Don't settle for anything else claiming to be the same or similar. We first found it when we actually visited Cologne Germany. My wife ran out of it... I tried some US "same thing"s... poor!!! I finally bit the bullet and paid the $90 shipping (seemingly the only way to get the original). I bought 2 bottles, since the air freight charges were the same. My wife was ecstatic. She couldn't believe I had paid that much, but I told her she was worth it. (I'm guessing those two bottles will last a couple of years) I love the subtle smell... I hate most perfumes, my nose is very sensitive. This stuff smells faint & good & lasts all day.

This is the real deal: this is the original Eau de Cologne. This is the scent worn by Napoleon, Oscar Wilde, Romy Schneider, Queen Victoria to name a few names. Do not make the same mistake as me: the scent produced by licensed makers of this scent are no match for this one from the original manufacturer - their product is cheaper for a reason. The original is a great, timeless, unisex scent. Just ask Rupert Everett.

I really like this. This is most definately unisex. Some reviews said it doesn't last long. I could smell it on my arm hours later although it was more subtle by then. I'd buy it again

I ordered this because I was curious about it: the original Eau de Cologne, based on a specific citrus discovered by J M Farina, a perfumer from Turin. I originally had problems with the top which has a spray and which I couldn't get at because I couldn't release it from the outer lid. My review was actually a cry to help to Amazon but they just refused to post it. Not helpful! However I persisted in trying to get at the spray top and eventually succeeded. I love the light scent and will probably order again, hoping the top won't be so difficult. It would be helpful however if with the information, there was an address to contact for help. I recommend the product - perhaps not the packaging... Or maybe I was unlucky. The rating would be 5 stars if I hadn't had the problems with the top.

This was given as a gift. The recipient was thrilled with it and loved the smell.
