Awesome lens.
Went to NYC for a three day photo vacation and took 1700 photos. The majority with this lens. Sharp, fast and compact. Going to Chicago and Europe and will definitely be taking this workhorse of a lens. This little lens was perfect for street photography where the subject was close and It's small enough that it was inconspicuous so no one really paid attention to me.

You deserve it, besides you're the town's best photographer!
Nice, fast go anywhere pocket prime, great for other users (getting kids interested in photography), super slim and travel handy. Don't forget ur uv lens, then order a decent cap.Cons? Little noisy, but I don't plan on having a cinematic experience in 12kš, just a whisper reminder it's a camera and not a phone lol.Lens cap, gonna be hard$ to replace...

Perfect lens for the Nikon Zf
Excellent compact, sharp lens that works great on the Nikon Zf as an every day carry walk-around camera. I love the Zf but it's a little on the heavy side and the lack of a grip means it benefits from pairing with a small, light-weight lens.

Best lightweight lens from Nikon
Asronishg. Lightweight, great for one lens travel trip and street photography. Nice color. Nice field of view. It's a pancake, so not as sharp as a big and heavy lens. But the features mede this a no brainier.

Compact, discrete, and sharp!!!
I think this lens is compared too much to the 28mm f2.8. Given the focal lenth similarities it's natural, but this lens serves a slightly different use case and is optically much better if you like shooting wide open.I own the 40 f2 and had the 28mm f2.8 (before the 26) as my 2 lens compact setup for the Nikon Zf. For the price, they both offer good value for money. Wide open (especially at the closest focusing range), both lenses are soft and require being stopped down to sharpen them up. And for the money, you're giving up a metal mount and weather sealing. As 'muffin' size lenses, they didn't quite fit in my EDC sling, so the idea of having a pancake lens always on my Zf that would fit in my bag really intrigued me.Without the included lens hood, the 26 is very tiny and looks great on the Zf. It slides into my sling perfectly and doesn't create any bulge. The whole setup is pretty discrete and makes it easy for me to slip out, take a shot and put it away.Image quality is fantastic. I've only had the lens for about a week, but it is noticeably sharper than the 28 it replaced. To give up a little focus speed for better image quality was worth it for my use case.Speaking of focus speed, this lens is slightly slower (in some cases) than the 28 due to its design, but don't let that dissuade you. It's plenty fast for most applications. For me, this lens is my travel and casual lens and it covers that use case perfectly. The focus motor is audible, but not loud. Maybe a touch louder than an AF-S lens but nothing like the old AF 50 1.8D (nifty fifty), but unless you're going from minimum focus to something in the distance, its a non-issue. I'm not necessarily a fan of the external focus, but that was a design decision that probably had to be made. With the lens hood, the 26 is still slightly shorter than the 28, but you do give up the size advantage after you add a UV filter and lens cap (instead of using the included friction cap-- which would fall off easier with the lens hood on).Another great thing about this lens is in DX mode, you've essentially got a 39mm f2.8 lens! For social media and regular prints, 10MP (on a 24MP full frame sensor) is plenty of resolution. The higher res 45MP FX bodies will get you 20MP in DX mode. I use it all the time in DX mode if I don't have my 40mm handy.I can see why Nikon introduced a lens like this. On a Zfc or Z50 II you have a useful, compact 39mm setup which would compete well with other APS-C cameras of similar focal range (ie. Fuji X100 series, XTxx with 27mm pancake, Ricoh GRIIIx etc.) while giving the added benefit of a wide travel lens on their full frame bodies.

A Very Useful Lens
This is a small, light, all purpose lens useful as a wide angle on full-frame Z bodies or a standard lens on APS-C Z bodies or full-frame bodies in Dx crop mode. It is a pleasure to carry mounted on my Z7ii for street or landscape photography, far better than the usual heavy, bulky Z lenses. Images exhibit no distortion in any way except at extreme close-ups, which is to be expected and even welcomed. And, itās very sharp, right up there with all the f/1.8 Z lenses.

Perfect lens for travel
I bought this to replace my 28mm SE lens due to the weather sealing. I mostly use this on my Nikon Zf body, and for travel. I find that the 26mm is perfect for travel, as its wide enough for capturing most memories, without weird distortions from an ultra wide lens. I used to use a 35mm lens for travel, however I found that it was often too narrow for capturing a scene, and this 26mm was much for versatile. Image quality is great, and the AF performance is perfect for anything that you would use this lens for (as in, it's not for sports or action).

The hood does click and stays on!!! š
The media could not be loaded. Iāve noticed many reviewers even on YouTube claiming the hood comes off and I accidentally turned it until it clicked while twisting the cap lol. It does click and stays on.Lovely lens that Iāll be using especially for street shots. Iām glad I got to purchase this as itās backordered in most places, and even being sold used at a higher price than retail. Very nice lens. Iād recommend using a filter as this one protrudes in an out when focusing, therefore the possibility of dust getting inside is a little higher. Also itās not the quietest when focusing but that doesnāt bother me. Great purchase
