Not Exhaustive, but still a powerful tool in your tool-box
A writer's tool-box needs many different tools in it to cover every eventuality. This little book has quickly become a go-to resource that I would not be without while I write and edit my work. Frequently I find myself supplementing it with other resources, but that is alright. This little book has managed to answer many questions for me. Used sensibly and alongside other resources such as a decent dictionary it is valuable addition to my resuorces that I would not be without. I highly recommend it.

It does what is says on the cover
This is a product that does exactly what it says on the cover and as a writer and editor (despite being so for five decades ) I wouldn't be without it and, as ever, delivered very promptly.

Great book for writers
Easy to navigate and small enough to fit in your handbag without weighing you down, this dictionary is fantastic to refer to when writing or wanting to make sure you are using the correct spelling or usage of teh many confusable words in the English language. Defintiely would recommend this book.

Top of the pile...
I have a copy of this, Fowler's, an OED shorter [two volume] dictionary and a Collins thesaurus, a W&A yearbook and a W&A Guide To Getting Published, and a few others on my desk. This is quite literally at the top of my pile. Not only because it is the smallest, but it is the most used.Would my work still be published or be publishable without it? Yes, I doubt it makes any real difference, but it makes a very great difference to how I see my work before I submit it to editors.

As a writer this book is a gem for me. It provides a rapid easy reference for words for which spelling accuracy is sometimes foggy. My writing life is now complete -- for Christmas my wife has just given me the latest edition of The Oxford Dictionary of English and I already a possessed a much thumbed copy of New Hart's Rules -- now I can write with confidence. These three books should sit on the desk of everybody who aspires to be a writer of good English.
