Insta360 GPS Action Remote For ONE X2,X3,ONE RS,ONE R, Real time GPS Data, Bluetooth 5.0 for Maximum Reliability, Waterproof up to 5m, flexible attachment

Bought this so that I can film my car journeys on holiday, using the X3 on the outside of the car. Using this remote I can now turn my unit on and off without having to keep pulling over and switching the unit on and off manually. This gives me longer battery life and the benefit of recording the stats of my journeys. It’s also great for when I am hiking as it gives me all the stats embedded on my footage. It is a little expensive so took a while for me to decide if I could justify the cost but after using it I think it makes the process of using the X3 so much easier

IMPORTANT: This remote works perfectly with the Insta360 GO 3. It's an indispensable item for anyone using this action camera series. A little overpriced (in my opinion) but I have no regrets in splashing out to get one. Heartily recommend.

On the good side, if you can't reach your camera the remote lets you power on, choose modes, and start/stop recording. It also captures GPS data, embedding it in your video, so you can get the speedo/distance/elevation overlays on your reframed video. All of that is excellent. However... Battery life isn't great. You cannot, on a long cycle for instance, leave the remote switched on and just use it to activate the camera. In only two hours switched on I had the remote reporting something around ¼ battery. This means turning on the remote each time, before getting it to turn on the camera, to maintain decent battery life. Update: I previously wrote that QuickCapture did not work through the remote. It is now working for me, which hugely improves the usability of the camera, making the delay before recording starts much shorter. The remote is still very slow to connect fully, though. This means that,l if the camera is out of your sight, mounted behind you on a bike for instance, it is a long time before you get confirmation that you're actually recording. That's not as bad as it having QuickCaoture available, but still frustrating. However I'm upgrading from three stars to four, now that QuickCapture is working.

I'd been waiting for these to come back into stock.. this is the latest version and works a treat with the OneRS and the X3. The main reason for wanting this was so that I could record the GPS data when out on the MTB.. and I can report it works a treat. I then use the overlay feature (which is pretty seamless) to show my speed, altitude, location etc.. it's very neat. I also mount this with the provided rubber straps, to my bike crossbar for easy stop/start. Especially useful if you mount the cam on your bike helmet. A great addition, especially if you have several on their cameras.

Very unreliable. The connection interface is terrible. Even if you look at it, it must be 10 years old in design and WHY so expensive?

I'm not sure why it took me so long to buy this for my Insta360. It's impossible to start/stop the camera while riding a motorcycle, but this makes it easy. As a bonus, you get all sorts of data that you can overlay on the video.
