The only approach to nurturing yourself that makes absolute sense
Having done copious amounts of research into the merits of various nutritional approaches to good health I can say with absolute confidence that this book has been well researched, is scientifically sound, and the info within is as easy to digest as the foods recommended in it. It's written in a readable way, not overly technical, such that wil allow most people to engage with the common sense and good science that can be found within it. If you want to know more his expanded version is the place to go.

At last - a diet book that actually works!
I have yo yo dieted for 45 years and had got to the point where I was permanently on a diet, just so as to not put weight on!,... It appears that I am not alone!... it seemed like I would never be able to lose any more weight, no matter how hard I tried! This book changed all that! It is an easy to read scientific explanation as to how so many of us have messed up our delicate hormonal balance with years of yo yo dieting. Every other diet out there will tell you to have a healthy, in between meal snack, to keep your sugar levels balanced - this is the worst possible advice, ever! Basically, one should only 3 meals a day, with enough protein to keep you going between meals. It is vital to leave 5 to 6 hours between meals and 11 - 12 hours at night (eating dinner at least 3 hours before bedtime). This rebalances the hormone, leptin, which kicks the body into fat burning mode! I did not have a vast amount of weight to lose but in the first 6 weeks of this diet I lost 6 kilos! I feel better than I have done in decades and the BIG BONUS is that I have more than halved my cholesterol levels, which were extremely high, WITHOUT TAKING STATINS! My doctor can't believe his eyes!!! This is the best diet book - EVER!

Not at all what I expected
This book told you about diets and heathy eating go hand in hand, that I already knew. It tells you to eat 3 meals a day but this is not always possible. It does have a few good points but most of it is common sense.

Must read for anyone concerned with weight and health management
Very instructive and perceptive. Refreshing to see big business food dealt with honestly. Provides a useful perspective with which to understand various 'diets'. Pulls stuff together in a way which makes sense of it. Those deeply steeped in 'conventional wisdom' generated by vested interests will find some of it challenging. Those vested interests would wish you to see the book as 'cranky'. Those who, for example, dismiss all meat and milk products on the basis of the abuses of agri business will find the more subtle approach problematic. Pity it is such a short book, some uncomfortable truths might be better dealt with in slightly more detail.

The science behind weight issues
I've probably tried every diet and thought I knew an awful lot about weight loss! This book was real eye opener. Explained very clearly how the hormone function works in weight loss and gives simple rules to help you get them to work for you, not against you. Very simple to implement although there are no weekly meal plans etc. However, if you've dieted in the past you will easily be able to implement what it teaches. Great read!

Byron Richards, the author, was an excellent nutritionist. Sadly, he passed away over a year ago. His website and supplement company still continues with his wife and other nutritionists. They have a free e-newsletter with excellent info about a huge variety of medical conditions and supplements to help them, as well as podcasts (some of his archived podcasts, which can be accessed from their weekly newsletters to your inbox. I didnt read this book. sorry. But knowing his other info and podcasts, I guess it must be good. I recommend signing up for their free newsletters at WELLNESSRESOURCES.com. The podcasts are available to listen to any day/night, but can be accessed only through their Wednesday newsletters. On I-tunes and other platforms. and I recommend you read the info he wrote before his passing. I havent read much of his successor nutritionist's info or watched their new videos. He wrote and videoed about all kinds of diseases and disorders. Havent checked lately, but some of his archived videos were on, as of several months ago. Sorry I didnt read this particular book. I bought it and didnt read it. As I said, it must have been as good as all his other info and videos. His knowledge was superior to that of most conventional doctors.
