Spellbinders Platinum 6.0 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine

I am so relieved - having bought a cuttlebug a couple of years ago, only to find it just couldn’t cope with thin, fine detail dies - it was with some trepidation that I bought this. Have tried my thin dies, it seems to cut them perfectly. Obviously I’ve only had it a couple of days, but it seems sturdy and well made so it should continue to perform. I’ve still to try on thicker card, but I’m happy with the way it’s cutting 200 - 250gsm.

It is a brilliant machine, easy to use and simple to use as well. Cuts and embosses beautifully. It is a replacement for one that has served me well for nearly 20 years. Very satisfied.

Brilliant die cutter can highly recommend

I loved the neatness of the machine and that it can be easily folded. I bought this for card making, for which it is very helpful. I was very confused at the beginning of using this machine. As I was feeding the materials through the rollers it started to make a very worrying cracking sound and I thought I was going to break something. Also, I did not know that the plates were going to end up being marked, so this worried me even more. I contacted the company and I have to say they got back to me very promptly and were very reassuring, even when I had to ask them another time why the clear plates warped such a lot (making it difficult to insert into the rollers). Apparently this is normal and the plates are a "consumables". I think this should be made more clear in the instruction manual as it affects the running costs of the machine. Also, you don't have to crank a lot, but it is quite hard at the beginning and I would say if you were a bit frail, forget it! I don't agree with some reviewers that it only cuts one sheet. I have definitely cut two or three with ease. I bought the machine for cutting fabric initially as I need lots of 1 1/2" strips x 5" and already had the dies. However, I find that, by the time I've cut the fabric to size to go through the rollers and it cuts maximum two layers, I may as well have cut them out with a rotary cutter!

C'est ma première machine de découpe et de gaufrage. Elle est simple d'utilisation et permet de créer de jolies réalisations. Je l'ai choisie car je souhaitais, vu le prix des machines de découpe, une machine solide. Celle-ci correspond à mes attentes avec sa structure en acier massif qui permet des découpes nettes et précises. Elle est facilement transportable avec sa poignée et prend peu de place pour la ranger. Je suis très satisfaite de mon achat.

The embossing machine seems to work well, though I'm still learning how to use it. I've only used embossing folders so far, no die cuts, but someday. It works smoothly, seems to be good quality, and the instructions make sense to me as a beginner to embossing. It comes with enough cutting plates to do many jobs, I think.

I was quite hesitant to buy it initially but i am glad that i have made the choice to purchase it via Amazon. It is cheaper than other websites which i have seen. This machine is mainly used for card marking, i am still learning on embossing, especially 3D embossing.

Habe lange nach einer DINA5 Maschine gesucht. Von Spellbinders steht hier schon die Grand Calibur und die Sapphire. Mit diesen bin ich auch sehr zufrieden, nur ist eben die DINA4 Maschine etwas unhandlich und braucht gleich viel Platz. Die Stanzschablonen sind eh meistens nicht so groß, nur manche Prägefolder. Mir gefällt, dass die Platten durchsichtig sind und man genau sieht, ob evtl. das (manchmal knappe) Papier verrutscht ist und nachher ein Stück von der ausgestanzten Form fehlt. Es ist richtig, dass die Platten sehr schnell verkratzen, aber das tun alle Platten. Man sieht es bei den transparenten nur sehr deutlich. Ich benutze konsequent eine der Platten für oben und die andere für unten (sie sind beide identisch). Somit verkratzt nur eine der beiden und empfindliches Papier kann nicht durch ungewollte Abdrücke Schaden nehmen. Schade ist, dass die Magnetplatte nur für die große DINA4 Version hergestellt wird. Die Platte für 3DFolder muss extra bestellt werden, sonst ist alles dabei. Ich kann die kleine Platinum sehr empfehlen und würde sie mir sofort wieder kaufen. Sie sieht gut aus und steht beim Arbeiten sehr stabil und macht einen soliden Eindruck. Besonders angenehm ist der versenkbare Griff. Das Arbeitsergebnis ist bis jetzt perfekt.

Bought this item for my wife that had the old 'green' cuttlebug. She likes the now one. Not the same as the old one. Time will tell of course. Seller has shipped the item in perfect condition.
