A delightful surprise
Having read other reviews citing a lack of web GUI for the management of these switches I went ahead and bought them anyway as they were so cheap and I needed them only for basic VLAN configuration; even if the idea of installing management software is repulsive. However, upon receiving the two I ordered, I found them to not only have a web GUI, but one that, unlike most web GUI managed switches, is fast, responsive, sensible and very easy to use. I personally have an aversion for TP-Link products as they tend to be of very poor quality, but these switches have impressed me enormously and I expect they will become my go to when looking for simple VLAN aware switches as they are very well priced, extremely pleasant to configure and well built. Having used a number of small cheap switches from competing manufacturers, such as HP, Netgear, D-Link, Cisco SMB and Mikrotik, I can sincerely say that this is the first time in many years I have been so pleasantly surprised with a cheap managed switch.

Managed switch at this price!
I was a little sceptical at first when I ordered this product, thinking to myself surely a fully managed switch cannot be this cheap? I was wrong, the switch is amazing, out of the box it works flawlessly with no need to actually change any of the configuration but it has a full range of settings that can be configured on the swicth right the way to having seperate VLANs for your different devices. The switch supports DHCP for the standard home network, however you can also configure it for a specific IP address is you are more technically minded and have static addressing configured on your network. All in all this is a great switch for a fantastic price and I will definitely be buying more of them for my house so that I can finally move away from wireless.

reliable easy to manage, quiet and does not get hot.
I purchased this to add extra RJ45 ports as my router only has three, it just works straight out of the box: its totally silent and does not get hot, it has been running trouble free for two months now. I am a retired IT network engineer and am impressed with the high end features, I also like that you can manage it from a browser without loading apps, I used to pay thousands of USD for kit this good a few years ago (OK big 48 port switches, not five ports but its stilll good). I wish I had ordered a bigger one and moved everything onto the one switch now. UPDATE Now more than a year trouble free.

Great little managed switch
Nice little switch. It's pretty well constructed (metal case) and feels solid and robust. It can be hung on a wall with some screws easily enough. The management interface isn't entirely intuitive and assigning the vlans was a little confusing to start with (and I'm a network guy!) I bought a couple of them to support my Extreme WiFi APs so that I could drive additional SSIDs through on different vlans onto my firewall. Recommended - and can't really beat them for price & quality. A POE+ version would be nice.

Switches are all you need for a LAN no router required
I wanted to connect a macOS iMac to a Windows 11 Insider Beta PC through ethernet as sharing large files through the Mesh WiFi would bog down the network even when using the Mesh device's ethernet ports. I tried a direct ethernet connection between both computers with manual IP addresses but the computers would refuse to talk to each other directly. So I learnt that routers are only required when you want to traverse separate networks and switches are all you need to create a local area network LAN. Access points can be added to switches to provide wireless access. So I connected both Mac and PC to the switch with CAT 5 cables. I manually setup incremental IP address as 192.168.0.x and subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 on both computers, 192.168.0.1 is reserved for the switch. I'm sharing folders on macOS so created a sharing user and turned on sharing. On Windows I mapped a network drive with an address like \\192.168.0.x\ and browsed to the folder I wanted to map. Everything works so much faster now at full gigabit speeds and without any of the downsides of cloud storage such as outages, slowdowns, privacy issues and so on. You just need one computer that can play the role of a server which doesn't stop it doing all the other normal computing tasks. I can even put the serving computer to sleep and it'll wake when a LAN request is made. I didn't use the web interface except to confirm it works though I can imagine it would be very useful as seeing how well this works I can see an upgrade from a mesh system to switches and access points happening.

Solid little easy managed switch.
Solid, metal cased 5 port switch. User interface is simple but does expect you to know what you are doing. The manual is decent enough but the on-line TP-Link site provides more detail. Purchased to deal with VLAN tagging issues between Openreach FTTC <-> Google Nest Router system as suggested by Google. Nest Router is probably the most frustrating network kit I have ever used. No useful diagnostics, their help is woeful and you can't get at any information unless connected to the web (which if you live in a bad mobile signal area is a major problem).

Managed switch
Easy to use and manage using the app

Poca spesa molta resa. Consigliato!
