MEIKE MK-N-AF1-A Macro Auto Focus Extension Tubes In short, these three tubes worked absolutely fine, with no problems in every combination I tried them with three Nikon bodies and two Nikon and one Tamron lens. They each fit one another, and the three cameras and three lenses I tried with them snugly, but not the crazy-tight connection some have reported with extension tubes. Attachments are smooth, firm, and lock with a satisfying click. The set I received looks great, had good quality control, and work in all ways tested for me with several cameras and lenses. My set is just what I hoped for. I sincerely hope other buyers have the good luck I had with my set of Meike Nikon AF macro extension tubes. I ordered from this particular Amazon page because it lists the extension tubes part number as MK-N-AF1-A. This set, the ones shown here and that I received, have chromed metal surfaces where each tube attaches to the camera body, or one another, and also the chromed metal surfaces on the lens attaching ends of ALL three tubes in this set. The bodies of these extension tubes are all plastic. The good quality, high-impact plastic that is sturdy and strong, but still plastic and NOT metal. Only the six tube ends are chromed metal where attachments are made. As best I can tell, Meike makes as set of extension tubes much like this where the end that attaches to a camera mount or other tube is plastic, with no chromed metal surface, while the lens ends of those tubes are metal. I specifically wanted the Meike extension tube set for nikon with metal surfaces on both ends of all tubes, and the electrical contacts and screw drive autofocus mechanisms. I have a Nikon D750 and access to my daughters' Nikon D3200 and D90 cameras. This set of tubes worked, one at a time, with my D750 and the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G lens. Autofocus and aperture changes worked fine with each extension tube up to and including all three of them stacked. This set of tubes worked, one at a time, with my D750 and a Tamron SP Di AF 90mm f/2.8 screw mount lens. I was really impressed that the AF worked with all the tubes stacked though I use manual focus with macro pretty much exclusively. Having the tubes working as advertised, even with an older, third party screw drive AF lens was a good test of these tubes workmanship and alighnment. I used the tubes with one daughters Nikon D90, the same Tamron 90mm Macro screw drive AF lens as described above and a Nikon 18-55mm kit lens. All combinations worked, even the Tamron, since the D90 has screw drive AF capability. Controlling the apertures and the focus on the kit zoom and the Tamron Macro worked without problems for me. I used the tubes with my other daughter's Nikon D3200, a Nikon 18-55mm kit lens and the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G lens. All combinations worked, with the D3200, the various Meike tubes, the kit 18-55mm zome, and the 50mm f/1.8G, in controlling the apertures and the focus. I would absolutely love for Nikon to make a fully metal set of AF extension tubes, but then they'd probably charge $150US for each, and $400US for all three as a set. Since I won't be using these daily, these $50 Meike extension tubes have alread exceeded my expectations, and I've already been having fun trying to determine some fun, neat, repeatable setups for some in home macro work. Health problems keeps me inside more than I'd like, and these tubes add more macro options to my kit than just my Tamron 90mm Macro. With all three of these tubes stacked, and using my Tamron 90mm 1:1 macro on my D750, I get a magnification of 1.64, well over half again the subject's original size. Sweet.

Well, with a price like this, you can't exactly expect the quality to be gobsmackingly amazing. The quality is definitely better than that of its competitors, but this is exactly what you would expect of an entry level macro kit, it's inexpensive and gets the job done. I purchased it because I wanted to try macrophotography before spending any real money purchasing all of the specialized gear for it, and that was certainly a wise decision. I'm happy that I didn't immediately jump at macron gear; but even so, the quality of these extension tubes is very good. As previously mentioned by others, the fit can be a bit tight, but I found that loosened up a bit. It does indeed work with medium telephotos (autofocus), but I actually found with my prime lens, the focusing speed difference was definitely noticeable. But it did not appear to degrade the image quality hardly at all, And for those of you trying your hands out at macro photography, yes, I definitely believe this product is worth the price and a very good product to spend your money for. It gets the job done and in the end, that's all it needs to do, I would suggest; however, that you really practice with them to get used to how they operate. I will say trying to determine where the new focal points were with each extension was a bit of a pain, but then, so is everything else.... Buy this.. the price really is attractive and most importantly you get two. But sorry, still can't give it better than four starts.

Theses work perfectly; autofocus works on all my lenses from old 'D' type (mechanical screw drive), AF-S (ultrasonic) and the latest AF-P (stepper motor). They are well baffled for stray light inside, and have solid bayonet mounts. The body is light plastic, but seems sturdy enough for moderate use, but do lack weather sealing. So, obviously not pro gear, but great for the price. I already have a good 1:1 macro lens (micro nikkor 105/2.8), but wanted the tubes for traveling light to leave the macro at home, and also to use with super telephoto lenses to reduce minimum focus distance for small skittish subjects, like hummingbirds. The few bad reviews seem to be due to people not understanding how macro and AF works. When you push the lens away from the sensor to focus closer, the working f# increases over the lens native f# (bellows effect). Entry level cameras only autofocus uo to f/5.6. if you're using a kit lens at f/5.6 with an extention tube, you will predictably have problems. Higher end cameras will autofocus up to f/8, and lower f# lenses, like a f1.8 prime, will keep the working f# reasonable.

One of the adapters won't disengage without sliding a screw driver into the mechanism. The other two work fine but am a little skeptical for how long. They are fairly inexpensive which is nice and are working fine other than the release button on one of them.

Let me first start off by saying these are great. I just recently got into macro photography, I'm not working with anything special just a 40mm Nikkor DX lens, so I need all the help I can get to get closer to my subjects (on a budget). I find with the two smallest tubes, 12mm and the 20mm separately, I can get up to two times closer and snag some more detail which is great. The 36mm doesn't gel with my rig as there is no more room to move in after 32mm (the 12 and 20 combined). I was worried the auto focus wouldn't work (I'm using a D7500) however it worked flawlessly (plug and play). I really apperciate the build quality of these, you can tell when you try to separate these tubes from a lens or each other they're built tough, you can trust these not to fumble your gear, especially with the metal connectors.

I have had a few of these extension tubes, some good, some not so good. Mostly constructed of metal or an alloy of some sort. However these are injected of a high quality plastic, but please do not let that that deter you. This product has been the best set that I have come across yet. They work with auto focus so that is a plus over many extension tubes in this price range. Some tubes will have a connectivity issue now and then, but I've never had an issue with these. And the support is second to none if your were to have a question or have any unforseen issue, so this is an excellent company to purchase from. A product you cannot go wrong with for close up photography without the cost of an expensive prime lens.

I have a Nikon D7100 and was excited to use these extension tubes as an alternative to an expensive closeup lens. I tried the 12mm ring first on my Nikon 18-70mm lens. The fit was very tight but everything snapped into place with a bit of pressure and I took a few test photos which looked good. I decided to try the the 20mm ring and experienced the same problem several others have reported here - I could not separate the ring from lens body!! Well, after a good 5 minutes of twisting, tugging and lever pressing I finally disengaged the ring. I was very concerned that I might damage my lens mount so I did not reinstall the 12mm ring or try any of the other rings. Others have commented that they used these extension tubes with no issues so go figure. Will be returning these for a refund.
