Fantastic and very effective.
Having recently replaced draughty old patio sliders with lovely new French Windows, and also a hardwood front door with a composite door, alongside a heating system upgrade we noticed a substantial increase in dampness in our loft and on our windows. Having looked around to see possible causes (yes, the lovely effects of great insulation) and resolutions I decided that getting roofers in to replace tiles with vented solutions was not for me. After all, we've been here 15 years and this has never been an issue before. The site I checked which had loads of great info about roof space in general recommended a dehumidifier as this is a growing problem as people insulate their houses better. Our house has 4 bedrooms, a study a utility room, a large living room, a kitchen and 3 bathrooms. I chose this unit specifically because it can cater for a 5 bedroomed house according to the manufacturers blurb. It's easy to use, really easy to use and understand. It is portable to a degree with the casters but it is quite heavy to lift. When switched on it uses about 225 watts of electricity so it's by no means a power hungry beast and of course that lessens as the humidity levels get under control and it needs to work less. The first few days saw the unit running quite a lot and we were emptying the 6l tank once or twice a day. This in itself quite shocked me. However after a week, the tank was barely filling up and the device was coming on less and less. It's all automatic and will switch on and off according to your relative humidity settings (RH) so you can literally leave it switched on all the time if you want.. It is reasonably quiet but not silent and on either fan setting (low or high) we have not found it to be intrusive or sleep disturbing. After one week, I can now report that the damp in our loft, which was running off the loft hatch and dripping onto our heads has more or less disappeared and this is WITHOUT locating the device in the loft even for a short while. We placed it on the landing outside the bedrooms and main bathroom and during the day left all the doors open to every room. The unit will draw the air from the entire house over time and remove the moisture very effectively. It comes with a 2 year warranty and I've now ordered some HEPA filters to see if that helps my mild asthma. Well done Meaco this is a first class bit of kit I never knew I needed. It might look pricey, but compare the cost of this to a new roof had the timbers rotted, or to the potential ceiling damage should the loft dampness seep through the insulation or to the constant job of wiping windows down to stop black mould and you have a very cost effective solution to dampness. It can also be used for clothes drying with the swing louvre, but we haven't tried this yet until I'm positive the dampness is under control.

I truly support its inclusion on the list of the best humidifiers because my friend is very pleased with it, and having used a different model of this product before, I can confidently recommend it. It's a sturdy and performs well. When I need to dry laundry in the winter, I can do so without the house getting damp. It's also a great feature for my brother, who suffers from allergies, to purify the air in his room. We're very pleased. It dehumidifies all rooms very well and prevents mold growth.

The perfect dehumidifier
Last winter I had a serious problem with condensation in my house. The windows would be soaking wet and opening the windows wouldn’t make much of a difference. Soon black mould began to appear in several locations which was quite stressful. I consulted various damp proofing specialists, all of which gave me expensive solutions and no guarantee the issue would be eradicated. This year I decided to buy a dehumidifier to see if it makes a difference. The first one I bought (different make/model) did the job well, but drained energy. I returned it and bought another one (again, different make/model) but I wasn’t convinced it was doing the job. Third time lucky, I bought this Meaco unit. It’s perfect. The unit now effortlessly controls humidity across the entire house. Sometimes I move it around from room to room but most of the time it’s not necessary. The unit is a little heavy but its no bother thanks to its easy manoeuvrability and high quality build. The water tank is large so I don’t have to worry about it filling up constantly. The noise level is no louder than a fan, and actually for me white noise helps me sleep better so it doesn’t bother me at all. I can’t get over how quickly it dries laundry. In the winter when laundry actually contributes to the humidity issue, it’s no longer a problem. And finally, this year I’ve had no black mould and I feel like I’m breathing much healthier air. This unit has been a been a little miracle for me. It’s reduced my stress levels, improved my quality of life and I feel healthier. I couldn’t recommend this unit enough.

Really makes a difference
Waited a few weeks before writing a review just in case. Safe to say this product really does work. Put it on overnight and in the morning, the tank was half full already. But the whole house was dry, even upstairs (this was placed downstairs). It tackled the whole house which was unbelievable. After about a week and a half, the humidity levels began to stabilise in the house, which means it will switch itself on and off when it needs to. It does dry the clothes as well and as an added bonus, it even blows out slightly warm air ( added heat for the house really). And it hasn't broken the bank either. Very cheap to run considering the way it works. When it was first used, it was on non stop in the first week and as I said, did not break the bank. Yes it will be an extra cost to your electricity, but not much at all. This is a really good product and would fully recommend it.
