Injustice Gods Among Us Year One The Complete Collection TP

Kills and thrills galore! I haven't played either of the Injustice games (fighting games don't interest me), but I have watched all their cutscenes on YouTube because the story of that universe is fascinating. This comic line continues to add drama and tension to the story. When someone is killed off, you feel it. Several moments only hinted at in the games play out, and even though you know they happened, it's still enthralling to watch unfold - as should be the case with any prequel. The power of Superman in this collection is the best demonstration I have seen in any story (I'd include examples, but spoilers!). You believe how terrifying it is to be up against him when he lets go of his limits. At one point, Bruce runs into Clark's parents, and he instantly decides to retreat - if Clark thinks Bruce is coming for his parents, Bruce is dead. This is definitely a story of "the ends justify the means, until they don't", and he never sees that. There are moments where Clark betrays his friends in the worst possible ways, and you'll find yourself wondering several times if he's crossed The Line yet, or if something bigger is coming. Something bigger is always coming. And the ending... Ouch. Because it's all telling one story, you don't feel left behind, whereas if you were reading a mainline comic book there would be references to other series and events that you haven't read. For example, I'm reading the New 52 Batman line, but I haven't read Batman: Eternal and that's left me very confused in places. With the Injustice comics, there's just the one story, so it's much easier to understand. Occasionally, there's a break from the supers (one story explores a young boy's relationship with Superman before and after he killed the Joker), but it doesn't last long. You don't need this comic to fully understand the game (plot points from this are brought up there), and you don't need the game to fully understand this comic (this is five years before the events of the first game). The last thing I'd like to share isn't a compliment or a criticism, it's just an interesting thing I noticed when I held the collection for the first time. Every comic book I've ever held has had a paperback cover with a slightly glossy feel to it, like a magazine. The covers for this were also paperback, but they had a dryer texture, closer to actual paper.

First of all, the quality of the edition, specifically its binding - is not the highest. Some of the first pages seem to opening too far, almost looking as if they would be coming off eventually. It kind of proves the ongoing theory about DC lack of delivering in binding department. Storywise the Injustice is most of the time a good fun. Some parts are awesome but there are many 'meh' moments, as well. Story tries to be grounded but is failing every now and then. Not going into spoilers - motivations seem unclear and contradictory. The number of side characters is too high sometimes and they seem to be there just to push the plot forward. Trying to make some of the JL members grounded is (unintentionally) hilarious. Although I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised by nice touches of humour in some parts of the story. Overall - it is a good read but I expected a bit more from 'cult alternate gritty superheroes version'.

Using a mixture of kryptonite and Scarecrow's fear spray, the Joker causes Superman to become overcome by his greatest fear. While under the influence, Superman believes Doomsday is about to kill Lois and their unborn child, so takes him into space to weaken him. However, it is Lois he accidentally kills and, going temporarily insane with grief, Superman rips Joker's heart out. Resolving to impose peace on Earth, Superman becomes an autocratic dictator and only Batman stands in his way. The artwork in this collection is amazing. Subtle facial expressions at the beginning help "sell" the characters and the script shows how easily the world has changed. Everything Clark Kent does is justifiable and this is what makes this book frightening: how easy it becomes to do the wrong thing for the right reasons. A brilliant Elseworlds concept.

Perfect storytelling in an else world story driven collection of dystopian Justice League. I loved it from start to finish, and I wanted more! Having it collected in one whole volume was brilliant and the paperback felt premium. Unfortunately the pages have come away from the spine toward the back, which could be the design of the book, or my overuse of it... However, this doesn't detract from how compelling the story is. It's now my favourite iteration of the DC universe and I very much recommend it. Twists and turns aplenty, tragedy and deep questions on "who should hold power?" And "if the most powerful man turned to fascism, how would he be stopped? 9/10 from me.

I'd heard a lot of good things about this series, but I was still on the fence when I bought Volume 1. How good could a book based on a game really be? Hadn't the "Superman goes bad" story been done already? Well, this book exceeded expectations on all fronts. Fast paced, brutal, and juggling the myriad characters well, this is the first book in a long time to make me actually say "Oh no, no way" more than once. There's a treatise on power, peace, and corruption lurking in this book, and it has a surprising amount to say.

This is so good. Brilliant storyline. It will keep you hooked untill you finish the comics. The dark broody and tragic tone of this series so good. DC comics at it's bestttt...

Beautiful edition, some of the smartest writing I’ve read, and a perfect way to approach an elsewhere story. Get it, you’ll have no regrets.

Good comic. Amazon says that it has got 144 pages but dont worry it is a whole book with 424 pages. :)

Hermosa, aunque dejaron algo que desear algunos dibujos, la historia es fiel al juego y te atrae a seguirla, cada vez es más intrigante y te induce mas a leerlo, tiene tragedias, acción, de todo. Un hermoso Clásico.
