Masterplug WBX-MS Weatherproof Electric Box for Outdoors, 345 x 220 x 126.5 mm, Grey

I bought this as I needed to provide outdoor extension cord in order to have some building repairs done. It turned an ordinary extension lead into something that was safe to use outside. Worked really well. I had no complaints for the builders. It’s a bit fiddly to set up but once done I was happy to leave outside. Decent valve and being Masterplug you know it will fit UK plugs/extension leads (I fitted a 4 socket extension lead into it with no problem). Seems durable but I am unlikely to use long term.

Box works fine although wiring entries are fiddly. Mind you, they have to be watertight so that explains things. I've bought two units in Dec, 2024 to augment the two other exactly similar units bought some years ago. The older units are showing signs of wear and the box upper and base are not sealing tightly so, for this season, I've used aluminium foil self adhesive tape to seal the edges. This is not 8ntended as a criticism!Some observations1. The boxes are not intended as a permanent solution2. Biggest problem in use comes from the accessories attached. Different Christmas lights come with very different plug/transformers. Some have a transformer in line, others have a 90° turn. Having to use a mixture of these can overfill the box. This may well be the reason that the older units are showing signs of strain ...Would I buy more? I just have, and will probably buy another two for use next Christmas.They work well, and are robust. Space is adequate to take a 4 plug extension but maybe compromised by the style of plug/transformers being added. Not a problem with the box!Value for money? Certainly

The only real tricky part relating to this is mounting it, however this is very much a reflection on the person fitting it than the prodcut itself.The box is of a good size and accomdates the dual socket extension which I was using.It also has a good depth, which is really useful given the height increase in plugs used for garden lighting etc.The product seals well, I have checekd it on numerous occasions after rain (including heavy rain) and the inside has been completely dry.It is a simple product, done well.

I've had two of these products for a few weeks now, and it is definitely what I was looking for. I live in a fairly wet area of the UK and there has been no evidence of any water penetration at all so far.The lead is of a good enough quality that you can fix it to an external wall and there is no weakness in the outer / protective sleve when pinned with cable clips. The plug itself is also of a good quality and feels robust enough to survive an outdoor environemnt.Obvioulsy this is now set in place and hasn't been moved at all. The seal on the box where the leads enter / exit is a bit tricky to refit once opened for the first fit but for the sake of a minute to line up all the slots in the box / fitting, it is more than easy enough to do.

Used for Xmas decoration lights in the the garden. Good value. Little water ingress.Recommended.

Excellent product. Totally waterproof. Good size. Good quality. Not flimsy and easy to fit.

A good all round weather proof box for outdoors or indoors. I found it perfect for allowing me to make electrical connections in cables without fear of water ingress.

This is the best outdoors box out that I have found out there so far. I already have 6 that I've bought over the years as I keep buying more for their good quality .... BUT they are not very high in the inside so you need to understand this if your plugs have different shapes (for example, if you have plugs going LEFT, others going RIGHT and other ones going UP... it might mess up your box not being able to close the lid... so you'll need to have one box per "direction" of the plug... another thing that it is a little bit annyoing is the closing clasp... although the box is VERY secure and keeps the weather out of your leads (trust me, I live in Ireland and we get a lot os nasty weather here) but sometimes it's annoying to close that clasp... the trick is to make sure all 4 corners are fully aligned before you close glasp, then it's easy to close it.
