I like it so much that I have purchased a total of 5 over the years
I purchased two in 1996 and another in 2005. When I purchased two newer vehicles in 2017, this was the first accessory that I installed. After 20 years, the initial two were still working, and I left it in the vehicles for the new owners. Installation takes about 20 mins as it is not difficult. The flashing third brake light is peace of mind that the vehicle behind me will notice that I am braking. When installed properly, the flashing reverse lights will grab attention when backing up. I like the fact that I do not have to pump the brakes to get a driver's attention as this module does all the work. The option to have a continuous flashing cycle or a single flashing cycle is nice, but I prefer a continuous flashing cycle. It has been a great addition to my motorcycle as it ensures drivers are aware.

Works great - a must have for ANY motorcycle
2003 Honda VFR800 Vtec Interceptor --- Took me about 20 minutes to install...and most of that was due to wiring in some extra length wire and wrapping connections with tape. Instructions are more than adequate if you graduated high school. I chose Mode 2: "emits 5 short flashes followed by a steady on light; light remains on until brakes are released" --- and it's great. I already have a brain/hand reflex from years of riding without a modulator like this, that has me "triple tap" the front lever or foot pedal when I see a need to caution motorists behind me (emulating what this does automatically), so NOW when I do that, out of habit, AND having this installed and wired for "Mode 2", it flashes more than those "5 short flashes" because I grab/release the brake a few times...at least when I'm cognizant enough and aware of an alarming situation and have the time. BUT, when the s*** really hits the fan and I don't have time to luxuriate in being "flash happy" with the lever or pedal, this thing will draw necessary attention, as I frantically grab a handful of brake to avoid a true emergency. It's nice knowing it's there. If you couple it with a few other auxiliary LED components, like say a license plate LED bar, etc ( like here: [...] --- or here: [...]), the effect is certainly compounded. My bike has two dual-filament (stacked vertically) bulb-ed brake lights (NOT LEDs) and then I also have two LED / low-power-draw auxiliary brake lights afixed to the top and bottom of the license plate, and all work together, in sync. Great product.

Safety ALWAYS
I bought this module, to have as much visibility while riding my motorcycle. The wiring was pretty straight forward, and, the module has 2 different settings of flashing. I opted for the 2nd option of 5 flashes then hold steady. Just a word of wisdom, do not use those crappy plastic splice connectors to wire these, or any other module in. They will fail, and when they do, you will wish you had connected the wires better. I always opt for directly soldering the wires together, or, using a straight splice with heat shrink. Believe me, you will thank me. Great module. Thank you.

Greatly improves motorcycle day-time riding
Works as described, installation was quick (if you're good with a soldering iron and heat shrink). I knocked off a star for cost since it shouldn't be THIS expensive, but after installation I realized why it's worth the money - it really grabs attention. I was following my brother who had this installed and it was amazing how much of a difference it makes compared to the standard brake light (specifically in daylight hours when it's hard to see the brake light steady on). Can be installed on any motorcycle that has access to the brake light wire and a ground (or use frame ground). I installed on an Aprillia Tuono with no problem. Highly recommend for motorcycle safety.

Excellent Product!
I installed my BackOff XP just today; it works as expected and I am really happy on how it does its job. From the 2 available working options I chose the "4 short flashes followed by a steady on light" and it continues this cycle as long as the brakes are applied. I think this is the most useful option because the alert is working always, compared to the other option which stops at the first cycle. I cannot say specific details about the installation because I paid to an experienced mechanic to do it (my V-Strom is still under warranty so I just didn't want to make a mess). However he told me that the instruction map was NOT too accurate; he had to find the way to connect the module correctly. Well it could be a misinterpretation from this guy, no? But anyway, truth or not, this is not a reason to rest a star from my rate. My stop light is not LED but a filament bulb. But this XP module comes prepared to deal with both, according to the manufacturer. It's a little bit costly module for the "simple" functions it does, but I trust on the "law" I invented myself for some electronic devices: high cost means quality. So I expect this module keeps working for long time! All in all, it is a great device, looks very well constructed, and works fantastic. I recommend it!

It's working but may need some better quality control before it ships
Just installed this today on my motorcycle. The only issue I have and reason for 3 instead of 5 stars is that mine was not color coded correctly. It has 5 wires and my red wire and red/white wire are both red (that or I have 2 red wires and am missing the red/white wire). What is even more confusing is since I used the white/red wire for output to get Mode #1 I just basically tested both of the red wires to see witch one is the proper one for the power input... Well they both work! I cant tell a difference, one maybe looked like it flickered a little bit but they both work, so I honestly have no idea if its hooked up correctly and that just does not give me piece of mind. Black is going to ground, the White/Red wire is going to my light, The yellow I am not using. That leaves the two identical red wires, one should be for power, the other should be the red/white for mode 2...

Really gets the attention of other motorists
This is a well-built item that performs exactly as advertised. I put these on every bike I buy because it provides a very tangible safety benefit. The pulsing brake light really grabs the attention of people behind you. When I'm stopped at a light and have a car approaching from behind, I hit the brakes and can actually see the driver notice me and immediately slow down. The only downside to the product is the install instructions. I wish they were more detailed and bike-specific, but it's still not difficult to install if you're even slightly mechanically inclined. There are also videos on the internet if you search for them.

Worth every penny!
I got this for a bit of extra visibility on my Miata after a large pickup truck nearly plowed over me when he wasn't paying attention one afternoon. It is very solidly made and easy to install on a car or a bike. Directions are very clear even for a novice. The biggest issue for most people people will be in determining which is the brake signal wire. Switching between the two flashing modes is done based upon which wire you connect the signal output to and not a switch. However, if you use the same type of connector you can easily switch between the two with ease. This unit also offers the option to flash the brake lights when you put the car in reverse. Personally, I don't use this feature, but it's there should someone desire it. It's well worth the price of the unit!
