Q: do you still need to by a 'driver' or does this work directly with the led roll?

It depends what's on the end of the end of the LED lights. If you have 2 wires running of the lights then you need the adapter which comes with this power supply. Its really easy to do. If you have a plug on the LED's then the adapter isn't needed. This will onLy work on one colour lights.

Q: I have a solar water fountain what transformer do I need for it?

If you have a solar powered fountain you should not need a power supply.

If the lights are intended for a 12 volt supply they are probably best left alone, as the wiring is not straight forward. LED voltage is typically 2 volts if all units are in parallel.

Ideal for model railways

I ordered this because I needed 12v DC to operate bonfires with flickering LED effect on my model railway. As you can see on the end of the lead from the transformer there is a little attachment. This attachment enables you to connect two wires to it rather than having to splice the wires by cutting through the lead. It is a shame I can't buy a couple of extra fitting on the end as I have several of the flickering lights in different places as I could detach the transformer from one and move to another when needed. Very happy.
