The Merkur razor is very well made and a solid piece of kit. Personally though I found it pretty aggressive when I first moved from multi blade shaving to DE shaving. I then bought an Edwin Jagger 3D diamond laser razor which came with 5 Feather blades. I found this a better staring razor for the transition. Having said all that it depends on your skin and beard so you may not find the Merkur as aggressive as I did. The Edwin Jagger performs very well for me and a two-pass shave, with and against the grain, gives me a babies bum smooth shave.

I use a fusion but want to give a safety razor a try, but do suffer with sensitive skin, does anyone use this and have sensitive skin and finds it ok?

Its not just the razor but also the shaving soap you use. I am slightly sensitive and changed several years ago to safety razors. I use a good quality (badger) brush and traditional soap and as long as you give your whiskers a good soak with water and soap I expect you'll not have any issues. I was advised to allow around four minutes from first wetting to actually start shaving and I have found this to really work. There are no markings on the face of this razor so it is difficult to know if you shave using both sides of the razor or just one side. I used a drop of my wifes nail varnish to identify this so I get to use both sides of the blades. The razor itself is not particularly large - it does feel rather rather small to me but I am also rather large. If you buy this then its worth buying the leather sheath if you do much travelling. All in all its not a bad razor but I think I would look at a different model - one annoying feature is that I find the end screw, that keeps the whole thing together, keeps loosening despite tightening it often.
