Quality Timothy hay at decent price.
I normally purchase this exact same hay from a well known pet shop at a few £ more than what I paid so bargain straight away. Checked straight away that it was okay as I’ve seen a few unlucky people get obviously a very bad batch, but from what I can see all seems absolutely fine with it. So saved me a 5 mile journey to my normal shop and also a few £ at the same time so definitely a no brainer really. I’m now subscribed to monthly and hopefully everything will be fine in the future with the batches I receive. This hay if you’ve never used it is far superior to a lot of hays you get in your supermarket ect. Nice long fresh stems which the rabbit will only eat as a fussy eater. None of this super tight compressed bales that when you open it that most of it is tiny bits or probably the scraps left over from quality brands that reject them (my own assumption) It’s nice long fresh loosely packaged Timothy hay that rabbits ect need for their health and teeth to. Can’t fault this purchase whatsoever as all is perfect condition and a great price to. From my experience I highly recommend this hay. Yes you may get massive bales of tightly packaged hay cheaper but if your pet is anything like ours you’ll end up waiting most of it as the little snob turns his nose up at it and blatantly refuses to eat that stuff, so all depends on your pets preference I guess but this is ideal for our rabbit at a good price to and no travelling a 10 mile round journey to collect it either, ordered one day, delivered the next day.

Wonderful hay!
My guinea pigs have always been extremely fussy when it comes to hay and have turned their noses up at almost every type I've tried to feed them in the past with the exception of this one and one of the Oxbow varieties. I had been feeding them Readigrass every day because of this but after finding out it should only really be fed in small amounts as a treat (rather than their main everyday diet) and worrying it had contributed to them having bladder problems due to its high calcium content, I really wanted to wean them off of it. Thank the heavens above for this product because they love it and I no longer need to feed them Readigrass at all. There is always very little waste from what I give them, as well. I have had three different batch numbers since I've been buying this product and I've had no problems with any of them. They have all been lovely and green and fragrant with no dust or anything else undesirable in them. I have read quite a lot of other reviews saying the strands were too short to be able to put it in hay racks but I have not had this issue and have always found the strands to be long stem as per the product description. It's such good quality and the amount you get in a bag is excellent, so I think it is very reasonably priced with these things in mind and considering Oxbow products are much more expensive for bags not even half the size. My only gripe is the zip fastening at the the top of the bag as I find it a bit difficult to get all of the air out as I close it and align the two sides so they stick together properly. I think an actual zip design like you get on food bags would be a better idea but all in all I'm delighted with this product and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Expensive but good
Very expensive and maybe not the best value, but my piggies love this hay! My youngest piggy was really poorly in January and stopped eating her usual hay, but she loved this.

Not bad
It's not bad! Bought as a replacement because the one I usually get was out of stock. My Degus do seem to eat it, but they definitely prefer their usual one. I like the fact it's long stem and it doesn't seem to dusty with lots of fine bits. It seems rather dry and not a very fresh green colour in comparison to other brands though

Paws up! Approved by 12 very choosy French Lops and their families
Long stem, abrasive fibre is the most important part of a rabbit's diet both for helping to keep teeth in trim and maintain a healthy digestive system and Timothy Hay is probably the best of all types of hay. This 1kg bag measures approx 48cm wide x 50cm tall and 14cm deep and is packed with slightly green (ie fresh) and stalky Timothy hay. On opening the bag, it smells very fresh and, as small-scale hay farmers ourselves with a traditional hay meadow, I would estimate it was probably picked within the last 2 months, possibly even more recently. We have twelve adult French Lop rabbits, one of whom is a free-range house-rabbit and, without exception, they all loved it. They are used to very fresh hay direct from our meadow rather than pre-bagged and branded 'pet shop' hay products so for them to give this their approval is the ultimate accolade and recommendation to all other pet rabbits. Many 'pet shop' hay products, particularly those packed in branded plastic bags, can be quite stale, often brown in colour, dusty and a stale musty smell isn't unusual hence I would never feed any of these to my rabbits - who deserve and receive only the best. I feel the Burgess range falls into this category - all products look and smell fresh, are dust-free, sufficiently coarse to require chewing - and it is this grinding of the abrasive fibre which helps wear down the molar teeth to help prevent spurs developing on incorrectly fed bunnies. The hay provides 63% beneficial fibre, ie digestible and indigestible (passed through the GI system), 33% crude fibre, 8% crude protein and just 1.8% crude oils and fats making it especially suitable for fibrevores, such as rabbits and guinea-pigs. I often feed Timothy Hay to my rabbits and this is definitely a product I will buy again. Although we have our own meadow producing meadow hay rich in grasses and herbs, Timothy Hay is more coarse, higher fibre and one of the best types of hay suitable for all rabbits of all ages, right from their first few nibbles on hay while still in their nest. I note the product description states that rabbits should eat their body weight in hay daily but I think this is a mis-print. Hay (or similar fibre such as grass) is indeed the most important constituent of a rabbit's diet but not their fully body weight daily. My French Lops weigh 6-7kg each which would equate to 7 bags of this hay daily (£35!) or a third of a full traditional rectangular farm hay bale - which is closer to the amount a horse would consume. I aim to feed a very loose body-sized pile of hay which I feel is more realistic.
