KS2 English Year 3 Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling Targeted Question Book (with Answers) (CGP Year 3 English)

This Year 3 book is a fantastic way to support learning at home. The explanations are simple and easy to understand, and the exercises are short enough to keep my child focused but challenging enough to help them progress. The colourful layout and fun activities make grammar, punctuation, and spelling far less daunting. Having the answers included is really helpful for quick checking. An excellent resource that makes learning enjoyable and effective.

We started off buying one of these workbooks for our 7 year old who had fallen a bit behind with her writing, and it was so good we have bought more in different subjects for both her and her older brothers. The books are easy to work through, clear, and in small enough sections that they can do little bit every week and don’t feel overwhelmed. She definitely improved, her school reports have reflected this, hence buying the next books along.

Keeps my brain active and up to date with grammar, which is really poor now on the television, radio and in many newspapers.

This book has everything your child will be learning in Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling, as taught in the new National Curriculum - which puts great emphasis on learning spelling rules, etc. This is much more 'English' rather than 'Literacy', with an emphasis on rules - whether they be for grammar, punctuation or spelling. This workbook, which includes answers, is split into the following: Grammar: Section 1 - Word Types Section 2 - Clauses and Phrases Section 3 - Sentences Section 4 - Conjunctions and Prepositions Section 5 - Verb Tenses Punctuation: Section 6 - Sentence Punctuation Section 7 - Commas Section 8 - Apostrophes Section 9 - Inverted Commas Section 10 - Paragraphs and Layout Spelling: Section 11 - Prefixes Section 12 - Suffixes and Word Endings Section 13 - Confusing Words Section 14 - Mixed Spelling Practice This is a fairly large workbook, at over 100 pages, and there are also single editions available, plus an answer book. However, don't make the mistake that I did and assume that the single KS2 Grammar/Punctuation and Spelling Workbooks for Year 3 are different; they are exactly the same as the three workbooks in this single edition. I passed the single workbook I purchased accidentally on to another parent, but, unless you only want one particular subject, it probably makes more sense to buy this single volume - this also has the answers included, but with the single workbooks you need to purchase an extra answer book. As a workbook, this is well laid out. It contains plenty of explanations, loads of practice questions and, although not babyish, it is colourful and nicely presented. If you want to make sure you know exactly what will be covered in the new National Curriculum for Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling for Year 3, this book will guide you through and help you understand the way the work is now being presented and taught. A very good buy and good value for money, as CGP books always are.

It really helps doing these with your child because it helps you understand where they are with their education and were you need to help them that little bit more.
