Perhaps a stupid question, but how do I use this to drill through a wall which is thicker than the depth of the core saw?

Drill to full depth, remove the drill and at that point use a cold steel chisel and a heavy hammer to essentially break / snap the core (which will still be attached to the wall at that point) and go again with the drill until you reach full depth. Keep repeating this process until deside depth has been reached. While the other answers given should and may be successful, it may not be possible to drill from the other side, but most importantly - it's almost impossible to align both holes up with each other and therefore you will produce a stepped hole. On another note - when drilling on a horizontal plane, the hole produced (as gravity will pull the cutter down) will not be 100% straight but will 'curve' downward slightly. For this reason, I always recommend drilling from inside out to ensure water drains away from rather than into the structure.

Will this fit a standard drill?

no this will not fit a standard drill. It has an sds+ shank , which has grooves, a standard drill bit does not have groves so the core drill is only partially held in the drill bit. YOU MIGHT GET AWAY WITH IT IF YOU WERE USING A SDS+ MASONARY BIT BUT THIS IS A BIG BIT OF KIT.

I need to drill some holes through some paving slabs, will this work?

According to the specification yes they should in reality they do not, I followed the correct procedure for wet drilling through a paving slab and the teeth were worn out by the time I was half way through, I purchased a much more expensive diamond hole saw and it was like a knife through butter. These were an absolute waste of time and money.
